We stayed in room 1 at the hotel at Shaver Lake Village Hotel, it was the first room and facing the mountain instead of the road and it was great, Very clean, very cute, stuck to the mountain theme of the area. It had a fridge, TV with cable, a DVR, digital alarm clock radio and a coffee maker. The room had 3 windows, and a window in the big bathroom. All the windows opened and that is how they stayed as they all needed the balancers replaced so they didn't open and close properly. Also, they do not do daily housekeeping there so when the 2 coffee packages were gone for our night stay we no longer had coffee. It was OK however because in order to make the coffee you had to hold the pot up to the basket to allow the liquid to come out, it wasn't the correct pot for that coffee maker.
The guy in the lobby was very nice and helpful when it came to finding out what to do and where to do it. He was cheerful and attentive while he was there. The Continental Breakfast was good, all carbs, cereal, muffins. bagels, toast, oatmeal, pastries, coffee, tea, milk and OJ. No fruit, eggs, waffles or that type of thing. What they did have was good and again it was very clean and well presented.
On the negative note, the attention to guests needs came up short. When we walked down for coffee in preparation for that 3rd morning, there was a note on the door at 5:30 pm saying that there was a Manager on the grounds and to call XXXXX, well, T-Mobile does not work at Shaver Lake so we were out of luck. Also, the electricity in the entire town went out about 4:30 pm one night and stayed out until well after dark. There was no assistance or consideration by the hotel management regarding the guests safety or comfort. The emergency lights in the hotel hallway were out, due to an old battery I am sure, so it was pitch black. Had I not taken matches and put them in my purse joking about having a match to go to the wilderness about a week before we went up there we would have had no way to find our way into our room and NOBODY at the hotel was around to help. A candle or flashlight assistant or something would have shown someone cared that we didn't break our leg walking up the stairs in the dark, or had to sleep in the car because there was no way of unlocking the door in the dark.
Overall, it was very nice. Cute Comfortable and Clean. Don't expect much assistance after you arrive. The have campfire circles to meet other travelers and smell that sent of the mountains. A fun stay. I would go back again, and I would bring a flashlight.
