“Clean and best for the dollar in a tourist town.”

For about 2 years as a business traveler across the coast of California I have found the most welcoming Motel that I enjoy staying at. This is the Palamar. This is a resort area--high vacation area where prices fluctuate greatly. From 70 per night to in the the mid 200"s plus.. Due to my work schedule I stay here at least 1 night a week. I have stayed at every room this Motel offers and here is what I have found. The rooms are clean. The linens are washed daily and the management with Charu and Manny are outstanding. Also, the prices are lower by a lot than the Best Western down the street. So, if you want to spend 150 - 250 a night for a hotel in pismo..think twice..2 off ramps away is shell beach where the Palamar is located. No frills, bed is great, HBO, and internet free. Also--2 blocks from the beach, 2 off ramps downtown pismo, and in shell beach there are three of the best places I have enjoyed a nice dinner. One Chinese, the other American Mexican, and the third a great for BBG with a fun bar. But, do not want you to think this is a 5 star hotel. It is not like the Venetian in Vegas. It is not the Marriott in San Diego. This is a clean Motel in the middle of a tourist town that host tons of married couples. Great location, tons of stuff to do. And, half the price. So, based upon similar locations and the following parameters I give Palomar the following.: Based on: Location, service, cost, cleanliness I give this Motel a 10 ..the best.

As we were on a roadtrip, we looked for a place to sleep, not a 5* wellness hotel. We were surprised about how friendly the host was, which made us feel good and comfortable! The room was small, but cozy and clean (unfortunately not standard in other hotels of our trip)! The location was good, the host told us where to go for coffee and food. All in all, this is a lovely place which we can recommend and where we definitely would stay again!

I recently stayed one night here. Awesome place. Great hotel staff. We had a big room with Kitchen, microwave, and refrigerator. A big plus if you are traveling with small kids. Very close to Shell beach, Pismo beach is around couple of miles away. Near to restaurants. Love to stay here again.

We stayed for one night as we drove from San Francisco to OC. We based out decision to stay here on Trip Advisor reviews.

For the money, it seemed to be the best rated option and we figured that since we really just needed a place to sleep, how bad could it be? I am convinced that a number of the reviews here on TA are fake. Here's why.

The room smelled very strongly of air freshener or fabric freshener. I don't consider myself super sensitive to smells, but it was too much.

The freeway noise was very loud even with the windows closed. Keeping the windows closed because of the noise meant we had to breath in stuffy flowery smelling air all night.

The fabric curtains were not wide enough when closed to cover the windows (there was a 1 foot gap) and the motel's neon sign just outside lit up the room like a Christmas tree even with the horizontal slat blinds closed. The ceiling fan sounded like a biplane taking off, too loud to serve as white noise. We could hear our neighbor's TV until all hours. We hardly slept even with earplugs and wine! We also tuned the tv-radio to static to use as white noise. It didn't help much.

The walls had all kinds of holes from old fixtures/lights/art that had been moved or removed. The bathroom was tiny, and it was about a half the size of the room.

On the plus side, the proprietress was very friendly, however, and although the furnishings in the room were outdated and worn, it was very clean. We just didn't think the place warranted the glowing reviews it has on Trip Advisor.

Great service of the staff, amazing location and very affordable.

We had been in town for a family function and reached at like mid night but still the people were very friendly and the place was neat and tidy. Very close to the ocean so we did go for a morning walk by the ocean and my son had loads and loads of fun.
