“Wonderful experience in gorgeous surroundings!”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

An oasis of greenery, still pond and clear view of the Buttes. Lovely rooms carefully maintained, fine breakfasts and generous hospitality of Bob, the genial host. We loved it all....and hope to return soon.

Met with friends here for the first time this past week and what an amazing experience we had. Rooms were clean and spacious, our hosts were always close by and extremely helpful with everything from ideas on where to find good lakes to hike to, to making reservations for dinner when we told him where we wanted to go. We will definitely be back! Thank you Bob and Bette!

Every July we spend a few wonderful days at the High Country Inn. We particularly like staying in the Howard Creek Suite with its private deck overlooking the lawn and pond, but all the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The breakfasts are marvelous, and the innkeepers, Bob and Bette, are warm and welcoming and most happy to help with restaurant recommendations and local attractions. For a few days the inn is truly our home away from home.

Room Tip: Howard Creek Suite has private deck.

Thank you for your comments about our Inn and the many time we have been able to host you as our guests! It is only a mater of time until he gets to see that elusive Bear, that has evaded him for so LONG!

As a little girl, I grew up spending several weeks each summer camping in the Lakes Basin Recreation area. Now, as an adult, every year I look forward to my visit to High Country Inn and a return to the area that I love. For the last 17 years, my husband and I have not missed a trip to our home away from home. Bob and Bette welcome us as if we are family to their beautiful bed and breakfast. The rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable and sleeping next to the sound of Howard Creek and the wind through the trees is the best sleep ever! Waking up to the sun rising over the Sierra Buttes is only made better by the scrumptious homemade breakfast in front of the picture window looking over the pond. Give yourself the best gift ever and spend some time at High Country Inn. You won't be disappointed!!

Friendly, welcoming, clean, beautiful and spacious accommodations.
Hosts gave us just the right amount of private space and attention. They were very respectful of the fact that we were on vacation and enjoying "being away from it all" We felt comfortable moving about the inn. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. It was a very relaxed and comfortable environment.

The Inn is situated perfectly to avail one to the beauty and attractions of the Lakes Basin. Set next to the Yuba River the property is beautifully landscaped. Rooms are clean and comfortable and well appointed. It affords a magnificent view the Sierra Buttes. Bob and Bette are great hosts and knowledgeable about local natural & human history. Breakfasts are scrumptious to both the eye and palate. They place darned tasty cookies out to snack on, too!

Innkeepers Bob & Bette are naturals at making anyone feel at home. Their attention to our needs and willingness to go out of their way to ensure a comfortable and stress-free experience for us was particularly noteworthy. This prime location offers a wonderfully peaceful ambience with its breathtaking view. We enjoyed this view from our room as well, and took advantage of our private jacuzzi tub and deck. The ceiling fan was a great amenity, too! A no-brainer for us to stay here again should we decide to revisit these parts of the Sierras.
