“Nice hotel in Simi Valley”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

My boyfriend and I stayed here because we wanted a hotel close to the Ronald Reagan Library.

The pros:

Good location. Just a few miles from the Ronald Reagan presidential library.
Clean rooms
Super comfortable beds
Nice lobby
Nice pool area

The cons:

Honestly, the breakfast wasn't THAT great. Everyone raves about it, but it looks pretty average to me. Yes, they do have a person who can make an omelette, but all I wanted was scrambled eggs. When I asked for scrambled eggs I was told no, yet the person after me was able to get some, so that was weird. Other than that, the breakfast has your typical cereal and bagel/bread items.

If you're looking for a great place to stay near the Reagan Presidential Library Museum, then this is the place. Very clean, comfortable bed, decent price, friendly personnel, quiet, and minutes from the Museum. We'd recommend it to any of our friends and family.

We visited Ronald Regan Library and stayed overnight. The hotel was convenient and the pricing was good. A great made to order omelet instead of those dry scrambled eggs you get at other hotel chains.

When I think Best Western I kind of dread staying at the hotel. However this Best Western Plus turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Check in was done right at 3:00 and the room was ready to go. Because I booked through P-line, they only had a reservation for 2 people and a single bed. We had three people and the desk was gracious to change rooms for us and give us an additional breakfast voucher. Very friendly and easy to check in. We had a room on the first floor, however, be aware it is a two story property with no elevator. Thus, if you have a ton of luggage, try to get the first floor. Some second story room have quaint balconies overlooking the pool too.

All rooms have exterior entrances and use a magnetic card for entry. Our room was quite nice with two queen beds, a 1/2 sized fridge, large flatscreen and a microwave. Plenty of towels for the three of us as well. Standard hotel room, but it was very clean and was comfortable for us. The doors to the room are heavy and tend to make a lot of noise if just let go...we heard our neighbors frequently because of this and the showers being run next door. We left the fan on the unit to mute the excess noise. There was tons of water pressure and a great shower. Beds were comfy and no problem sleeping on them either. Free Wi-Fi and we had an excellent connection with very quick speeds--another pleasant surprise.

At check-in you will receive vouchers for breakfast for each person staying at the hotel. Breakfast runs from 6:00 to 9:00 Mon - Sat and 6:00 to 10:00 on Sun. It is an exceptionally nice breakfast. There is an omelette/egg station where your eggs could be cooked to order (Bring a dollar to tip the cook) there was ham, cheese, spinach, onions, peppers, jalapenos and mushrooms to fill the omelette if desired. There were also potatoes, sausage, waffles, French toast, pastries, and a multitude of juices. The other hot foods mentioned changed daily. Breakfast was better than average. Remember to bring the vouchers as they do collect them each morning.

The hotel itself is about 1.5 miles off the 118, but it is easy to find. The Elephant Bar restaurant is next to the hotel, but it was closed. There are other restaurants nearby (within 2 miles or so), but you need a car. The Reagan library is also close by. Without traffic, it took us under 35 minutes to get to/from the Burbank Airport. The commuter lane helped in our case.

I would consider this a 3+ star hotel. It has everything you want and need with the only downside being the neighbor noise. That being said . . . for $84.00 per night, I definitely got what I paid for and a great deal more. I will go back if needed and will recommend the hotel to others.

Room Tip: The rooms all have exterior entry doors. When they close, they can be quite loud. Recommend a room a...

This hotel has THE BEST breakfast - hands down. I have never, ever had such a deluxe complimentary breakfast. Aside from the usual cereal, pastries, fruits... there was a made-to-order omelette station! Oh, my gosh!! There is also scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, meats. You must have your breakfast coupons with you - one per person. No ifs, ands or buts. They are collected upon entry to breakfast room. You are not allowed to take breakfast back to your room - at least that is what I was told during my stay. I could only take fruit and/or pastry. I'm saddened that there are styrofoam plates and plasitc utensils. Perhaps trying to save water from washing but food stained styrofoam is not even recyclable....

Please note that there are NO ELEVATORS in this hotel. The rooms are situated like a fortress with open space in the middle for the pool/hot tub. Each corridor seems to sit on a bit of a staggered level... there are 2-3 stairs after each short hallway or more at the ends. if you have lots of luggage, you need ground floor. The top floor (2 stories) have some rooms that have a balcony overlooking the pool area with a little bistro table/chairs.

The beds in my room really need to be flipped. the sides are at an incline from many people sitting on edge of bed. Other than that, it was comfty. Pillows are awesome. Not too firm not too squishy.

Pool seems to be "naturally" heated. A tad chilly going in but move around and you'll warm up quickly. There are pool towels on a cart for use. Please note that the hot tub, at least during my visit, was VERY hot. Seems much warmer than the typical 104 degrees that most places have. Nevertheless, it was very relaxing but you do start to cook after 10 mins.

Business center is a valuable asset. Internet is very fast. Printer available to print out the airline boarding pass prior to check out - thank you! Courtesy USA Today newspaper for guest at front desk.

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is literally down the street and around the corner. a MUST see. Location of this hotel is just off California Hwy 23. A short trip to Oaks Shopping Mall and Cal Lutheran University. I would definitely stay here again on my trip to Thousand Oaks. (yes, hotel is in Simi Valley, but it's just over border to Thousand Oaks. check your map).

Our room was a double queen and very spacious. Key

Room Tip: top floor with balcony overlooking the pool/hot tub.

This hotel room was very nice and clean. We stayed two nights, in two rooms with two queen beds. There was ample seating room, including a nice table with chairs to snack at, or relax, as well as a desk and chair. The area next to the bathroom had some open shelving, and a refrigerator for storing snacks and food. Bathroom was very clean and user friendly, shower/tub area clean as well. Noise level was fine, we were on the back side near the pool and ice machine, but did not have a problem with noise. Overall I would stay here again, The breakfast was free, and excellent. You can make your own waffles, all the food in warmers was fresh and well-cooked, well stocked, and the dining room a pleasant experience.
