We stayed at the Grand Vista 4 nights in August 07. We found it to be a nice place. Our room was very clean and spacious.
Desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. The pool area was very clean and a quiet area to relax by the pool. The business office had a computer and printer that you could use free of charge to print airline tickets. It seemed to be an older hotel that had had some major renovations but we incountered no problems. I would stay here again if visiting the area again. Simi Valley was very easy to get around in and the hotel was very close to lots of restaurants and shopping. The Reagan Library was about 3 miles from the hotel. The whole area was very pretty.

This was a great place to stay during our recent visit to L.A. We were 25 minutes away from Burbank Airport and about 40 minutes from Dodger Stadium. Traffic was not bad and Simi Valley is calm and beautiful--a nice change of pace from L.A.

The room itself was standard--nothing fancy, but clean and well-kept. Pool area is beautiful and clean. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful.

I highly recommend this hotel, especially given that it is about $60 per night cheaper than staying in L.A.

I have a bad back and practically fell off of their very soft, marshmellow mattress. I called the front desk and they said that their mattresses were brand new, there was nothing that they could do for me. They did not even have a board available. The help at the front desk was non-existant. I definitely would stay somewhere else.

We booked a stay at Grand Vista Hotel via Priceline and had high expectations based on some recent reviews. Unfortunately we noticed the hotel had an old musty smell to it the moment we stepped into the lobby. That odor was very intense in our room (#150) and we decided to just drive home at that point. We told the front desk that something came up and we had to go and the agent immediately said "It was the room, wasn't it?". It seems that this room is a known problem room yet they continue to guests in there.

The only positive I would say is the location-close to shopping, restaurants, and the 118 freeway.

My boyfriend and I booked a last minute stay there while driving down the coast of California. We stayed for 2 nights being that we had family close by. Convenient area with stores and restaurants (didn't notice many tourist attractions).

Pros: Hotel was clean. Room was very spacious! Pool area looked very nice. Had washers and dryers on each floor. Booked the room through hotel website and obtained their special price which was about $95 per night.

Cons: Somewhat outdated (nothing horrible though). Parking lot really fills up at night, hard to find a spot, so make sure the luggage is out of your car early. Windows are stationary and do not open.

CONSTRUCTION on our floor starting at 8am both days. Apparently fixing some of the rooms and gave no notice of this. We were woken up by hammering on the wall next door, which was right above the bed and drilling also. When I asked the front desk later in the day if that would be taking place the next morning as well they very rudely told me yes, made no apologies and asked me if I was "REALLY planning on sleeping 'late'."

Overall the hotel was decent and perfect for a short stay, with or without family... but the customer service left me with an overall bad feeling about the whole thing.

We have stayed at the Grand Vista on two other occassions when we were in town for a school reunion. This hotel has always been the one of choice when selecting a hotel to recommend to our classmates.
We were absolutely amazed when we arrived this year and entered our room. The carpeting was dirty, there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling corner and dirt and dust was piled up along the baseboard of the room along with hair and who knows what else. The wallpaper was peeling in places and holes were patched up in the walls and left with an obvious white blotch from the filler.
The bathroom was ok except for the shower head that was not adjustable and it was stuck at an angle pointed toward the shower wall.
It was obvious that this hotel had changed management. It used to be under the direction of Radisson. Believe me you can tell the difference.
In the morning we missed the buffet so we decided to go ahead and eat in the little cafe they have there. Which has changed to it used to be all open and airy, there is now a wall in the front section and everything is closed off into different sections. In any case. Our waitress was rude, she was more interested in talking with her boyfriend in the next room and when our food arrived it was stone cold. We sent the food back and in 15 minutes it came back to our table on a hot plate but the breakfast fries were underdone.
I hate to complain so much and I am pretty flexible about things but there was such a drastic change in the establishment between our last visit and this one I just wanted to post and warn people that it is not the same Grand Vista as it used to be.
