“Hands down....The best place we've ever stayed!”
Reviewed 2 September 2012

We recently stayed at Casa Rubio for 2 days and were pleasantly surprised. It was my husband and I and our 15 year-old son. We stayed at the most charming and quaint cabin. Inside was furnished with everything you could possible need. Items were thoughtfully picked out, making the cabin have great character. What we absolutely loved, was sitting on the cozy couch, looking out the French pane windows, and having a view of the extraordinary landscaping and the ocean! You could also see this from the very comfy bed, and hear the ocean all night long. The flowers and plants engulfed the cabin. It looked like a cottage in a fairy tale. The outside flower gardens that Mr. Rubio has created over many years is indescribable. Some flowers and plants are very exotic and from all over the world. You walk a charming path right to the beach which is breathtaking. For those 2 days, we cancelled our plans to sightsee in the area. We just relaxed and soaked in the views. Our son hardly touched his iPad....he even brought out their Scrabble game! He said we should visit for a week next year....and that's exactly what we plan to do!

Dont get me wrong...we loved staying there. We stayed in "The Nest". The view is beautiful, as are the grounds. The breakfast is yuck, the room barely clean, and the price was outrageous for what we got. We wouldnt mind staying there again, but NEVER again at the price we had to pay.

I have been visiting Casa Rubio off and on for several years. I usually stay in the Nest, which is a favorite of mine. This time I stayed in the cabin. I loved it. It was equipped with everything I needed for my four day stay. I love walking on the beach with Chica. Dinner at the Nautical Inn is always delicious.

Through the years, I have stayed in each unit. I have always had an enjoyable and relaxing time. Everything is clean and well taken care of.

Peaceful, quiet and outstanding views. Not sure which room the reviewer with the plumbing issues stayed in but The Studio was wonderful. Spotlessly clean with like-new kitchen and bath. Everything worked great and the kitchen is stocked with pots, pans and all. Great beds you get a great view of the ocean from. The owner was very accommodating and in The Stuudio you can bring your dog.

Room Tip: The Studio and bring your dog. Watch the sunset while cooking dinner.

We spent just one night at Casa Rubio, but we wished that our itinerary had allowed us more time. We rented The Cabin which had giant windows that looked across the magnificent garden and on to the shore. The Cabin is very well equipped, with a full kitchen that includes dishes and cookware. The main room is a living room/ dining room/ bedroom, and there is a second small bedroom. The furniture is tasteful and comfortable, and everything is spotlessly clean. They offer a small breakfast (juice and a pastry) and you brew your own coffee. For dinner, there's a nice restaurant just a few minutes walk up the beach. The location is very convenient to the entrance to Redwood National Park. We had a great stay at Casa Rubio, and we hope to return some day.

Great view from the patio at "the studio". But, you know you are in trouble, when the owner shows you the toliet and says "hold the handle down and the plummer is on the way". And, the plummer never shows up.You know you are in trouble when your wife has to put on her shoes to use the bathroom.Dirty, worn out, uncomfortable furniture, to much deferred maintainence, a real shame! As a well known and respected restauranteur, Mr. Rubio knows better. The pics tell part of the story.

Another escape to Oregon and time spent at Casa Rubio! Such a gorgeous location and view of the surf, quiet & clean beach for walking, well-manicured landscape. Tony, we love to stay at your casa, either in The Cabin or The Studio. Glad you have reintroduced a small breakfast to the amenities. Hope to return again next summer. Pat & Kathe

Room Tip: Reserve early - almost always fully booked
