I have stayed at the Ship Ashore many times. The people are so friendly and always helpful. The view is fabalous. Not only are you located on the Smith River, but also the Pacific ocean. Being an avid fisherperson, you are just at the right spot to get breakfast, meet your guide and fish the Smith River. The food is good, with a variaty of fish and meat. They have the best Prime Rib dinner I have ever had. You can relax upstairs in the bar and watch the sunset. I would recommend you stay at Ship Ashore.

I stayed at the Ship Ashore for an entire week last fall - Was pleased with the people, the service and the convenience of the motel and restaurant. The room was always clean and well supplied each day when I returned. The restaurant serves wonderful fare and the bar and lounge upstairs was both welcoming and warm. I would definitely recommend this motel and campgrounds to everyone. The sound of the ocean in the background was a wonderful sleep enhancer at night. Lovely!!!!!

My wife and I have stayed here several times since we discovered it on a road trip to Canada. The people have always been friendly and the rooms have been very nice. Having the restaurant right there was excellent. The food was good and the prices reasonable. The lounge upstairs was nice for relaxing in after a day of visiting the beach and such. There are a few rough edges, but it has been around for a while and has a very comfortable feel about it. We always thought that the mobile home park would be a nice place to stay after we have retired. We love small towns and the close association of people who live in them. By the way...if you are like my wife and like a little gambling fun there is an Indian casino in the town where you can while away a few hours. And finally there is the Ship itself....very interesting story there, ands always interesting to visit. The view, the food, the rooms, and the people all make for a pleasant getaway if you are looking for quiet and relaxation.

My family stayed at the Ship Ashore Resort around a month ago, and loved it. The view we got from our room on the top floor was great! We slept with the sliding glass door open a crack to hear the ocean. The room was clean, the staff was friendly when we arrived we were greeted
twice once by the girl at the front desk, then by the office manager. The only complant I have, I had to go back home.

I have stayed at this Resort twice now. No, it is not a 4 star or a 5 star resort but, then again, that is not why I chose to stay there. I mean, if I wanted to stay in one those fancy places I might as just as well walk there with those prices. Not saying this place is cheap or anything. It is definetely worth what was paid for both stays.
The first time I stayed there, I spent almost a whole week! I just couldn't believe how relaxing it was. The second time I stayed, it was only for a night but it was still just as relaxing. What was the best about it was how close it is to the ocean and the Smith River, away from the noisy 101hwy.

I can not beleive the managment of this hotel. My husband and i stayed here last weekend, the room was dirty there was hair in the bed and we made a complaint the manager of the hotel told us that *** happens, those exact words, and we said isn't that rude for you to talk to your customers like this, she said if you wre here i would say the same thing to your face and that she doesn't need customers like us anyways, we could not believe how horrible they treated us. 7 months ago best western owned ship ashore resort and it was a great place to stay now it is under a new owner and managment and it is horrible. I would not reccomend this hotel to anybody. for the 100.00 dollars a night to stay in there rooms and the service they give you, i would rather go up the road to the best western beach front inn or one of the many other hotels in brookings.
