“Pleasant surprise on a Friday night drop-in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2013

We walked from our rental condo for an early Friday dinner and had a lovely experience. A written note from the condo owner said that the food was delicious, and she was correct!
The exterior was inviting, with white lights strung along the porch and a few tables set on either side. We were promptly taken to a table for two along the side of the main room banquette. The tables had white tablecloths with a paper square over them and a vase of fresh flowers. On the other side of the room was a welcoming bar and a tall community table where a happy group enjoyed their drinks and food.
We often like to have a drink and 2 or 3 appetizers or salad for a light dinner when the selections seem fitting, and this place accomodated our likings. We had a minestrone-like soup with artichokes, the charcuterie plate, arugula salad with pears and crusty polenta with lamb meatballs. It's more fun than ordering just an entree and not as overly filling as having salad or appetizer and entree.
The food, service and atmosphere were excellent.

“Fun cooking class”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2013

We went for an afternoon cooking class in Italian Country Style with 4 courses and wine pairings. The chef/presenter was very knowledgable, engaging and entertaining. The food was terrific. The service was friendly, customer-focused and prompt. I would recommend this restaurant as well as their cooking classes. We will definitely go back and share with our friends.
We are still waiting to receive the email with recipes that we were promised and I expect that to happen. If it doesn't, I'll amend this posting.

“well prepared Italian food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2013

Some cities have a wealth of neighborhood Italian bistros where the food is all made in house, garlic odors fill the air and the staff is friendly and helpful. San Diego has very few of these places and perhaps Parioli comes about as close to that cozy welcoming place I am looking for. The only place in north county I like more is Tratorria I Trulli in Encinitas. Our food was very good (not really excellent), the waiter a bit overly affected (but helpful) and the only major fault I found was the table arrangements which created a distance between people that made it necessary to shout rather rather than converse. Good food is less pleasurable if good conversation cannot accompany it. The lobster ravioli was excellent, but the chioppino lacked depth of flavor and the seafood portion was meager, to say the least.

“Very Nice Italian Restaurant”

Excellent service! I had the lamb meatballs with grilled polenta and my husband had the chicken parmigana with sauteed greens. Both were fantastic entrees. We would certainly return here!
