We loved our stay here. We were especially surprised by the way the staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was everything we had hoped for. Katelin with guest services at the front desk was so helpful and accommodating. She went above and beyond to really make us feel welcomed and cared for as guests here. We have had the best stay here at the wine valley inn and will definitely be returning one day.

Michelle - running the wine bar was wonderful. She contributed to our experience with sharing her life stories. She was friendly, cordial and very entertaining. Great asset for this B&B. Thank you for the experience.

Room Tip: Room 211. Great location. High ceiling.

Lovely weather in March, plenty of warm blankets and puffy duvets with fireplace logs and decent accommodations, The dining leaves something to be desired. The Wine Valley Inn is lovely with a quaint Danish atmosphere.

The hotel is in a good location off the busy main road, and has a lovely garden with some cottages that I didn't get to see inside, so I can't comment on. There is a hodgepodge of rooms, some nice with updated bathrooms, others small and cramped and even on a third level with no elevator access. We were set to stay there 3 nights, but our first room had a perfume smell, and I'm allergic to scents, so we asked for another and were finally given a room where we could open the windows so we could have fresh air. Unfortunately, we could only have this room for one night and try as the staff (who were very understanding) might, I could not find a room where I was not bothered by the perfumey smells. We ended up in a local Marriott that had allergy sensitive rooms. I would have continued to stay at the Wine Valley Inn if we could have kept the first room we had stayed in. Only a couple of their rooms allow windows to be opened.

We stayed at this property for one night. I thought the location was wonderful - easy access to everywhere by foot. I thought the employees were very nice and very attentive. The property is older and shows wear and tear. Our room was on the second floor (no elevator, outside staircase, no-one available to help with luggage). Room was immaculate and clean - just run down in hallways and a bit beat up inside.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with you feedback on your recent stay at Wine Valley Inn and Cottages. As you were able to experience during your stay, we are located in the beautiful city of Solvang California, to be more specific, downtown Solvang and as you have just mentioned with "easy access to everywhere by foot". Our rooms are always kept in perfect cleaning position thanks in large part to our housekeeping team members. Please know that we do offer free parking, Wi-Fi and hot continental breakfast. Some of the items we offer for our morning breakfast include sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, waffles, freshly brewed coffee, tea and chocolate. We also offer danishes that are baked at our local bakery and are delivery to us every morning. We hope we will be your hotel of preference when visiting the Solvang area.

I was here during Dec 2013, the stay in the cute little town was cherish-able.Approach to the shops from the hotel was easy. The rooms are little small. The breakfast & the staff being cordial helped us. Only, that we wanted to have some wine and the hotel lacked it and it was very late in the night to get one from a shop. Wish we could have had some wine in the Wine valley!
We also hired the Tri-cycle from the hotel and the ride in the city was beautiful. Before taking a ride, educate yourself on the roads that one can ride on.

We are glad to hear that you stayed with us during the month of December, and we are also glad to hear that you found the location to be ideal to your shopping needs as we are less than a minute away from the Solvang main road. And even though we are less than a minute away from the main road, you'll be happy to hear that there is not much noise in our rooms from the main road traffic. Thank you for the wonderful comments you have regarding our amazing front desk team members and our free complimentary breakfast. We would look into the lack on Wine that the hotel lacked, as this is something that we should never run out of. For this we apologize, and we hope to see you on your next trip to Solvang.

Sincerely,
Guest Relations Manager

This was our first visit to Solvang and we stayed at the Wine Valley Inn because my brother & his wife had stayed here previously. There is good and bad (horrible) with this property. As a former travel agent I tend to really look over a hotel property for the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Good: Location. Its sits back off the main road in Solvang but is easy walking distance to everything on the main streets (pretty much everything in Solvang is walking distance)

#2 - Very pretty Inn and larger than it looks.

#3 - The Continental Breakfast wasn't bad. They offered scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast, yogurt, 2 cereals (Cheerios & a granola mix), waffles, apples & oranges, juice & coffee, etc..so the selection wasn't too bad.

#4 - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The check in was easy and pleasant. They do not have check out via the TV. Since I wanted to change my credit card I went back to the front desk and they were happy to change it without giving me grief or it taking forever. Helpful with things to do in the area.

Now for the bad......The hotel is old and outdated. We reserved a Chateau King room and we were placed in the back of the hotel on the main floor overlooking the parking lot. So every time someone after 10pm came back to their room or were checking in we heard conversations and rolling luggage, etc.

#2 - Our room was small. It was clean but needed a lot of sprucing up. The baseboards were chipped and needs repainting. Carpet is old, thin, and stained. Some walls had paint chips and needed touch up paint to them. There was only 1 bar of soap to use for hand washing and showering. The overall appearance is that the room looks dirty, tired, and desperate for an update.

#3 - Their is a mini fridge in the room with water, pepsi, and 7-Up. There is also a coffee maker & coffee in the room and some cans of snacks. In addition 2 bottles of wine and glasses are also included. However, according to the hotel book in our room, there should have been a price list sitting on top of the snacks and there was none so we had absolutely NO idea how much anything cost. We stuck with just the coffee in the morning.

#4 - The WORSE part of the room - NO SOUND PROOF!! Absolutely not sure why there was even a "wall" between us and the other room. When our neighbors got into their room they were talking and laughing and had their TV turned up loud. So loud I couldn't even hear ours without turning it up. They weren't talking in unusually loud voices, just normal conversation but the walls are so thin they might as well have been in our room too!! Finally at 1130pm they stopped talking and I scrolled through my TV to finally land on the channel they were watching so I was able to turn down my TV to match theirs so there wasn't a conflict. At 1230am they finally turned off the TV and I was able to finally fall asleep. The next morning we could hear them talking in their room so I imagine they could hear us talking too.

My brother and his wife had a different room. Their room was on the 3rd floor with a fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Upgraded bathroom and slightly larger room than ours. Much nicer room. But still old carpet, dingy baseboards, and needed some sprucing up.

Overall it's a decent property but don't think I'd stay there again due to the lack of privacy and too thin walls between rooms. They also allow pets so if you're bringing your pet that's a plus.

Thank you for such a detailed review you have on our Solvang property. As you know all feedback by our valued guests is taken into serious consideration, because our guests are our eyes to all the rooms they book. We have already spoken to our maintenance members and they are working hard on fixing the issues you found in the rooms. The Wine Valley Inn and Cottages is open twenty four hours a day, so a quick call to the always helpful front desk could have solve the price rate for amenities we offer in our rooms. Thank you for bringing forth the issues you found in your room, we will work hard to fix such issues as is it of importance to have immaculate rooms for our guests to enjoy.

Sincerely,
Guest Relations Manager
