I stayed at the El Dorado Hotel and Kitchen for a week with family members for a wedding. It is located on the square in Sonoma and close to everything. The receptionists were all very helpful with maps and directions-especially Kenny. The bungalows were quiet and had a nice patio. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a nice coffee bar for breakfast. We ate at the restaurant once and the food was good and original ( seafood was fresh and delicious).
I would stay there again and recommend the location and the wonderful friendly staff.

The hotel is in a great location tuck in the corner of the Square. The staff were excellent and the room was of a high quality. We had a room overlooking the pool which was very quiet however, my parent had a room overlooking the street and said at times it was noisy. The restaurant within the hotel was excellent, although personally I would have preferred slightly larger portions. We went on a wine tasting trip using Platypus Tours which was excellent (see separate view).

El Dorado is like staying with your very best friends. You unpack and then pad around the place like it's your own home. The location is ideal with so many fabulous restaurants in walking distance, as well as a decent hiking trail with lovely views. Sonoma is laid back to begin with, and El Dorado fits well in that vibe. The rooms are very comfortable, and the lobby so welcoming. The restaurant is very good, but it's the coffee shop that is the real standout. Excellent coffee, and a genuine meeting place. In the evenings, curl up in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine or tea and relax. Perfect from sunrise to sunset.

This nice hotel is perfectly situated. The rooms are a good size, nice tiled floors, very bright. We had a view of one of the tasting rooms across the street from our bedroom. Some of the reviews have commented on the noise. It's not silent in the hotel, because you are, after all, on a main square in Sonoma. It's a great location for food, and to get out and see Sonoma or Napa.

My husband and I stayed in a "cottage" by the pool. It is a very cute hotel. Loved the rustic/modern decor. Our room was surprisingly small and somewhat simple for the rate we were paying, but the bathroom was very large. Great bathtub for baths. Mattress was very comfortable. Service was great! There is free parking available behind the hotel, as well. Free coffee and scones provided in the morning -a major plus for us!

My wife and I stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon. Maybe we just don't require as much for comfort as some of the other posters but I thought the rooms were more than adequate. I also don't get the noise issue. We were there over labor day weekend and while there was a certain amount of noice coming from the court yard it never bothered me. Further, the restaurant closed pretty early so once that occurred it was very peaceful. The staff was great and the specialty drinks at the bar were just as good. We would definately stay here again.

It is nice that it's right on the square but the rooms are small and the bathrooms are tiny. I see some people thought it was overpriced? I would say for where it is etc it is reasonable priced. I have actually been to the restaurant downstairs twice. Had one great meal but this last time over the labor day weekend the food was average at best for the price. I would reccomend it for loacation and great staff.
