“Great views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

Great day trip if you just want to drive for the views and stop for an occasional hike. Start at the north end of the SP and work your way down.

“Nice drive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Unfortunately we were driving through here on an overcast day. Had fun on Portuguese beach. Very steep beach once you hit the water. Had a little scare when my daughter got pulled into the surf. Be careful.

Any beach on Sonoma coast is a great bet. Perfect weather and clean. Stay all day beaches. Take a picnic and enjoy the clean air. And since you're in the area don't miss a trip to Bodega Bay marine lab.

“Beautiful Area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014

The Sonoma Coast is a spectacular area from Jenner to Bodega Bay. The Russian River flows into the ocean hear at Goat Head Rock area. Bodega Bay and Jenner both have lodging, there is also some campgrounds in this area. Bodega Bay is famous also for Alfred Hitchcock Movie the Birds. We visit frequently and it a wonderful place to see sea animals also like seals, birds, etc.

Its an easy day trip to take if you are staying in Healdsburg or other places in Sonoma County for wine tasting.

“Beauty Beyond Compare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

A hidden gem, which just happens to be dog friendly, is Blind Beach on the southern side of Goat Rock. The road to the beach is narrow but worth the roller coaster ride to the bottom parking area. The headlands and high cliffs are strewn with wildflowers. Sea stacks and a natural arch are just off shore. Pelicans, gulls and smaller sea birds abound. Deer graze the headlands. Lucky visitors will spot seals and whales. Occasionally there are surfers here but be forewarned that the waters are icy cold and mornings often foggy. It is wise to bring a jacket or sweat shirt. This is a beach for strolling and enjoying nature rather than being part of the bikini and suntan crowd. Those who venture here in the early morning on a week day or off season might encounter only one or two other humans on the beach. Search for the seep where the seabirds come to rest and drink. If one approaches slowly, in a calm and silent manner, the birds remain at ease and continue their activities allowing for wonderful photographs! High tide dramatically narrows the beach however at lower tides the wide soft beach can be walked down for well over a mile.
