“The Best in Wine Country!”
Reviewed 13 August 2010

Luxurious, quiet, peaceful and incredibly welcoming!! Love the extra touches in the rooms and most importantly the huge bathtubs - even the outdoor bathtub and shower was a delight!
I left feeling like I made new friends with the staff - great people who really do care about your stay and try to be as accommodating as possible. They appear to just love their jobs – unlike many others in the hospitality world.

Surprised at the location – very close to the Square where we got to taste the local Farmers Market and watch the zucchini races – be sure to check out the Visitor’s Center which is a wealth of information too.

If you go to MacArthur Place, indulge in the evening wine reception - great opportunity to learn more of the area and meet new friends and just relax!

As part of a California trip my family and I traveled to Sonoma and stayed at the MacArthur. The property is absolutely beautiful and the room was even better. Between the gardens on the property and the room we felt as if we were at a Ralph Lauren inspired posh country resort. The spa tub in the room was wonderful and the staff was quite attentive and helpful. The Inn has put a great deal of effort into making their gardens and grounds truly exceptional. My daughter loved the giant stone chess board and the pool area was quite nice. We liked the fact that we could borrow DVDS from their library. The breakfast was delightful and the wine hour was perfect. We also ate at Saddles Steak House (their on site restaurant) and it was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is beautiful with a good location. Expansive grounds and charming appeal. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are nicely appointed. HOWEVER, the walls are so thin that you can hear the neighboring room's television and conversations. For that reason alone, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. You will end an otherwise perfect and relaxing day being completely irritated and annoyed.

I arranged a trip for about 10 colleagues. We came to MacArthur Place, spent the night, had a group dinner in the dining room (good, solid steak and fish options and a charming atmosphere), and all got spa treatments. Everyone loved it, and most wanted to come back with their spouses. My room was charming and surprisingly large. We got little lotion samples in our rooms, and a bath soak tea. My massage was great.

The property is comfortable with gracefuly gardens and sitting areas. The rooms are appointed to satisfy all creature comforts. Quiet and peaceful, yet in Sonoma and a brief way from the Square where shopping, entertainment, wine, and food abound. Sunday 'Garden Party' with bar menu and jazz/blues bands from 4:00P to 7:00P. Most of all, a caring and attentive staff who pay attention.

My husband and I went with another couple to Sonoma/Napa Valley. All 4 of us were new to the area and to wine tasting experiences. The concierge at this hotel had all the right answers and made numerous arrangements for us to make our trip memorable and fun. The grounds are beautiful, rooms are relaxing and super clean. The spa services were amazing. Staff was unbelievable in every aspect, bartenders, maids, maintenance / friendly and courteous. Wished I could have stayed longer. Can't wait to go back!

WOW! This was our first stay at MacArthur Place and we were blown away! The grounds are so beautiful and green and the room was amazing. The Garden Spa Suite was just the right way to celebrate our anniversary. You HAVE to try the teak tub on the patio. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the wine and cheese in the library and of course Saddles was to die for.
