“Nice Stay in Sonoma”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014

Very nice place and it felt very private. I really enjoyed our room with the fireplace. Very roomy. One night we got room service, just because. The service and food were really nice. The Lodge has a shuttle that runs to the downtown area, but we always just walked it. Pleasant walk.

My main gripe with this place is that they won't guarantee your room, you can only request it. Both times I have stayed there I requested a king bed and was offered two doubles at check in. I was told they got my request but bed choice was not guaranteed. Not the best way to greet a guest looking for a romantic get away. What is the sense of a romantic getaway and having two double beds?? I don't get it, however, the cottages are nice and are quiet and have all the electronic needs easily accessible. They TV is small for the room. The grounds are clean and the pool is quite nice, but the "gym" is really small and has only the basic machines. They offer a shuttle to the square at Sonoma which is convenient, and free wine tasting at 430, parking is easy. The location itself is not remote as the lodge sits at an intersection of a suburban part of town. I thought it was in an odd location for a spa. The restaurant food was fair, and too many other choices locally so I would avoid it.

Room Tip: Check for your bed request ask them to call if they can't fulfill your request. Check the cotta...

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback regarding your recent stay. I know it is frustrating to not get the accomodations you were expecting with the bed type. Please in the future reach out directly to the property as we can share some insight on the availability of king beds. In regards to some of the other room issues we are just about complete finalizing our rooms renovation, this will well help resolve some items you spoke about. The fitness center renovation will also begin soon. Please know we truly appreciate your feedback and want to welcome you back when you have the opportunity to visit Sonoma again. Please reach out to me directly when you get a chance so I can make sure your next stay with us is fantastic.

My husband any I spent 2 nights here. Staff was incredible. Room was nice we had a balcony with a fabulous view of the mountains. Free wine tasting at 4:30 each evening war gray mostly because Chris the sommelier took his time explaining the wines you were tasting. Also the bean and barrel bar has awesome handmade cocktails designed by Dale. You must try the French hooker.
Only thing critical I have to day is the bed was a little uncomfortable. The pool is heated so that's a bonus.

We had a great experience as repeat guests. We stayed in the main building this time, which was not too loud, but our patio faced the parking lot with no real barrier. My husband is in hotel management so we really pay attention to the service and the staff was all fantastic. Everyone from check in, to room service, to the bar at the pool were great. And the spa was amazing. It was one of the best spa experiences I've had in a long time. Thank you to Rose for my massage and Maria for my facial! The room was comfortable and clean. We did notice some small things- there were cigarette butts in the sidewalks adjacent to the main building; gum stuck to the concrete by the pool that had been there for likely months; and some of the inside of the room needed a paint job. But overall, we had a great time, and the staff and spa really made our night away special.

Room Tip: Stay in the cottages if you can.

Spent a wonderful girls weekend here. Stayed in the cottages which were lovely and comfortable with 4 girls per cottage. Great restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice coffee shop and pretty pool area. It's a short walk to the quaint town of Sonoma or they offer a shuttle to and for. I highly recommend!

Room Tip: Definitely choose the cottages

My Husband, 4 year old daughter and myself escaped to the Lodge at Sonoma for 3 nights and came back in love with the property. We had a cottage surrounded by beautiful flowers and perfect Sonoma weather. In complete honesty, we didn't expect it to be as wonderful as it was. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed but not stuffy, and the property is beautiful. Our daughter swam freely in the pool amongst a few other children but the entire energy was relaxed, and in no way "a crazy kid pool". There was a server at the pool and many open cabanas to relax in. If you are traveling with children, the entertaining "Train Town" is across the street. This place is a true gem in Sonoma.

Room Tip: Get a cottage room

A great place, with fantastic service, place to stay in Sonoma. The spa is incredible, the on property restaurant and bar have excellent wine selections, along with an extremely friendly staff. Spend a little extra and stay in the cottages, well worth it.

Room Tip: Stay in the cottages vs. rooms, you will not regret it.
