“Great place to say.”

The hotel was a great place to get away for a couple of days. The room were spacious, with little decks. The people who work there were very nice, check in was easy and the even had a shuttle to downtown Sonoma. The pool area was big and roomy.

Room Tip: I said that we would like a room not on the first floor and away from the elevator. We had a beautif...

We had a great time during our stay. Clean, comfortable rooms. Very convenient location just a couple miles from town square. Great service at the bar and restaurant too! Front desk staff was very accommodating, they moved us into the main building after our first night.

Arrived in pm and sat by pool. Nice lobby. Nice staff. Comp small bottle of wine and wine tasting. Outside a bit like hotel on main strip / commercial mini mall. Request room that looks onto pool / court yard where nicer feel. Sonoma is nice with core that has nice shops and rest. And historical sites. Recommend.

Just returned from our 4th stay at the Lodge at Sonoma. It is a great place to stay if you're visiting wine country. We love Sonoma, as it is more laid back and relaxed than Napa, yet close enough so a day trip to Napa is easy. The resort is very close to downtown Sonoma which has some cute shops and restaurants.

The resort grounds are beautiful and the gardens are gorgeous. We prefer the cottages to the hotel rooms. These are smaller buildings out back that have 8 units in each. The rooms are getting a bit tired and could use some updating - especially the shower unit, which is tiny. Each room does have a sitting area and a soaking tub and a king bed. Very comfortable accommodations in general.

The lodge has a very nice cafe/bar called Bean and bottle. We enjoyed coffee and lightvbreakfast there in the morning and snacks in the afternoon. They have wine tastings here late afternoon also. We did have a bad experience here, however, with one of the waitstaff. We had asked in the morning if we could watch a hockey playoff game on the TV in the bar area that evening as we could not get the channel in our room. We and the couple we were traveling with are all big fans :). The woman working that morning assured us it would be no problem and said they would just give us the remote control and we could watch the game. When we went back that evening, we explained to the young man working that we wanted to watch the game and that we had spoken to the woman in the morning. He kind of smirked and said, "Well I don't know, basketball is on and I want to watch (such and such). He put the game on for us, but kept switching to other channels and making snide comments throughout the game, which really made us wish we had gone elsewhere. The bar was quite crowded and no one else appeared interested in the TV, yet he seemed way more focused on toying with us than on doing his job, frankly. When the game was over, he switched immediately to a local game and commented "finally, time for some local teams". I commented to him that this was a hotel so it was unlikely that anyone was local. It was very irritating that an employee would behave that way towards paying guests.

On the plus side, Dominique, the concierge was fabulous. She really helped us find some wonderful boutique wineries and plan our days. It can be overwhelming because there are so many wineries and it was great to have someone with knowledge of them point us to some of the more unique and special ones. She also gave us some great coupons for wine tastings. Its definitely worth checking in with her. She was awesome!

All in all, we would definitely recommend the Lodge at Sonoma for a wine country vacation.

All in all, though, we would recommend the Lodge at Sonoma as a great

Room Tip: Stay in the cottages

Beautiful room with a balcony and a fireplace and a complimentary bottle of wine---who could ask for anything more ? Oh and a great shower with good water pressure and lovely toiletries.
Dominique—the navigator (concierge) was excellent in helping us plan a wine tour along with other recommendations plus discount & upgrade coupons for our use

Wine tastings @ the Bean & Bottle every late afternoon was an added bonus. Staff are knowledgeable plus the bottles are in their inventory ready for sale !
Lunch at @ the Bean & Bottle was ideal if you wanted to split a sandwich—prepared to order and tasty !

Fitness ctr was small but adequate—a variety of machines; lots of towels and in addition to bottled water; apples were offered as well.

Lovely pool area—the seating /lighting offered privacy .

Too lazy to go back in town for dinner ? Walk out the door to Carneros—pizza and wine matches were superb.

Wish we had more time to spend at the Lodge—the stay was outstanding !

Room Tip: ask for a view--away from noise ( ie pool or parking lot)

Very nice place and it felt very private. I really enjoyed our room with the fireplace. Very roomy. One night we got room service, just because. The service and food were really nice. The Lodge has a shuttle that runs to the downtown area, but we always just walked it. Pleasant walk.

My main gripe with this place is that they won't guarantee your room, you can only request it. Both times I have stayed there I requested a king bed and was offered two doubles at check in. I was told they got my request but bed choice was not guaranteed. Not the best way to greet a guest looking for a romantic get away. What is the sense of a romantic getaway and having two double beds?? I don't get it, however, the cottages are nice and are quiet and have all the electronic needs easily accessible. They TV is small for the room. The grounds are clean and the pool is quite nice, but the "gym" is really small and has only the basic machines. They offer a shuttle to the square at Sonoma which is convenient, and free wine tasting at 430, parking is easy. The location itself is not remote as the lodge sits at an intersection of a suburban part of town. I thought it was in an odd location for a spa. The restaurant food was fair, and too many other choices locally so I would avoid it.

Room Tip: Check for your bed request ask them to call if they can't fulfill your request. Check the cotta...

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback regarding your recent stay. I know it is frustrating to not get the accomodations you were expecting with the bed type. Please in the future reach out directly to the property as we can share some insight on the availability of king beds. In regards to some of the other room issues we are just about complete finalizing our rooms renovation, this will well help resolve some items you spoke about. The fitness center renovation will also begin soon. Please know we truly appreciate your feedback and want to welcome you back when you have the opportunity to visit Sonoma again. Please reach out to me directly when you get a chance so I can make sure your next stay with us is fantastic.
