The Marriott hotel in Sonoma is highy recommended. Nice hotel, nice rooms, nice restaurants and close to Sonoma center and all the intersting wine stuff. We stayed there for only 2 nights, but could have easily spent 1 or 2 nights more.

Room Tip: Pick the pool view rooms

Another great stay at The Lodge. The grounds are impeccably kept. The roses are so fragrant all of the landscaping is beautiful. There is no need to fly 5 hours to a resort when we can drive 2 hours and have the same experience. Spa treatments were spot on, although a little pricey. We have stayed in the cottages and in the main lodge I am torn with which one I would recommend.... The rooms are exactly the same in layout and size it's just "the feel" you get from being tucked away in your own little apartment. Room service for breakfast was very tasty and delivered on time. We visited other resorts for meals while we were in Sonoma and I think that we will always return to the lodge due to the overall quality of the establishment and the locale.

Took a short break here with the family. Booked a 'standard' room but was upgraded to a cottage room - a pleasant welcome surprise! The property is well laid out with a nice pool and attractive grounds. They had free wine tasting and a mini vineyard on the property as well. Great and friendly staff. Free shuttle to town and back. Very relaxing. Would love to come back again.

We just returned from our anniversary. Our two nights without children in a year. While we had a wonderful time overall, I have mixed feelings about the hotel.
The positive:
Beautiful entrance and as busy as the main Street feels, they do a good job of making you feel like your not right on it. We had no street noise from our room.
Pool and surrounding courtyard were lovely. They had live music that was very talented and made us want to stay longer at the pool.
The concierge, Tammy, was wonderful. The lodge should be aware that she is the sole reason we did not check out the first night. Her recommendations on dining and wine tasting we're fabulous and more than we could have hoped for.

Negative:
When we checked in the desk attendant was cold and basically made us feel as we were lucky to have the privilege of staying there. It made me feel as if some warning flashing #they booked on expedia# was on there computer translating into a sense that we were getting "leftovers".
Our room was a handicap accessible room right next to the service closet. At 0800 am we were awoken by sounds of carts banging together, loud discussion and chatter about work.
We arrived and there was no wine opener in the room. Not a big deal, but once again the attitude I received when attempting to obtain one from the front desk was pure annoyance. He was argumentative about it not being there. Never an apology for the inconvenience. They could not find one and said it would be about 20 minutes or we could "go ahead and wait for the free wine tasting in 45 minutes"......um. No? One was delivered to our room about 15 minutes.

To summarize. Pool was great (lots of families and kids) with good pool service and music.
Concierge, Tammy, was awesome and was the redeeming quality of the staff.
Front desk service was pitiful.
Room was average, like a slightly upgraded standard business hotel. Not worth
the $$. Noisy.
Will definitely explore other hotel options in the area before returning.

My husband and I had stayed here a few years ago, and always wanted to go back. This year we decided to stay for one night with our two kids, as we were passing nearby on a vacation.
The hotel grounds are beautiful. We chose to book a "cottage" room as we thought it would be fun for the kids (different than just another hotel). Also, it's a pretty little walk along flowered paths to get to the beautiful pool, and we had our own patio to enjoy a bottle of wine in the evening!
Check-in at the front desk was actually a pleasant experience, and all the hotel staff was very friendly. Every worker who passed would greet us with a "good morning/afternoon".
Mike, who took us to town in the free shuttle, was super-helpful
with restaurant recommendations. Afterwards, we just called for pick-up, and there he was to bring us back to the hotel.
We didn't eat on-site during our short visit. We did buy some meat & cheese and crackers from the Sonoma Cheese Factory in town and enjoyed it with our wine on the patio. Even though the pool area was quite busy, sitting on the cottage patio, you would swear you had the hotel all to yourself! ...So relaxing! Wish we could have stayed a few nights longer!
