We stayed at the lodge at sonoma for a few nights in June. The resort is very nice, although I didn't think the price plus a $20/nt resort fee was warranted. It's not a far walk from downtown sonoma (maybe like a mile) so we did like that. The rooms were pretty comfortable. The shower was kind of odd though in that everytime we took a shower water got all over the floor and got to be pretty slippery. We had an ok stay, next time around we might try some where else.

There are two things I know for sure about our trip to wine country. One is that the next time we will stay longer. Second, for sure will stay again at The Lodge at Sonoma! Beautiful setting, wonderful staff, good restaurant right on site, pool and large Jacuzzi, and evening wine tastings. Free shuttle is available and runs every 10 minutes to the Town Square (shops, restaurants and tasting rooms). We stayed in one of their cottages that had a gas fireplace and an outdoor patio. The gardens surrounding the cottages are very lush and lovely, and we felt like we were off by ourselves! The Caneros Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are more interested in light fare, The Bean and Bottle Café is located right off the lobby, and has a variety of breakfast, and lunch sandwiches. They also sell glasses and bottles of wine. And, you can even arrange to have a picnic lunch specially packed to take along on your winery visits! One thing you must take advantage of at The Lodge is the services of their wonderful concierge Dominique Catteau. She is a font of knowledge in all things wine country, and just a very lovely person. We felt very well taken care of by Dominique! Great recommendations on wineries, restaurants and excursions, and help with reservations. One thing we did not do this trip was visit the on-site spa! Can hardly believe I am saying that, spa girl that I am, but just did not have time this trip. I would expect the spa to be as top notch as we found everything else at The Lodge. Special kudos as well to Kristi who took care of us and was very helpful at check-in. This was a 40th anniversary trip for us, and we could not have been more pleased or better taken care of, than at The Lodge at Sonoma.

Room Tip: Try to stay in one of the "cottages". They really are lovely, and with that fireplace...

We were here for a long weekend for a family wedding. The lobby and pool area are lovely. The rooms are okay. The lighting in the bathroom is poor, very difficult to apply makeup. Some of the furniture was looking"tired" along with the bathroom floor. We had a problem with our phone and they were very apologetic and gave us extra Marriott points. Coffee had to be purchased in the lobby restaurant and came to $9 every morning, including tip. The prices here are high, even with a group rate, so I think coffee should be made available. There were free refills, at least. The front desk was very helpful, the shuttle into town was great.
All in all, we had a great weekend!

Always a Napa guy but so glad that we have decided to give Sonoma a chance.
Amazing downtown square with all the nightlife to keep you busy for a week.
Lots to see and do. The rooms are aging but very nice and clean. My wife and I are very hotel picky and this is certainly a place we will return to.
Reception at front desk and restaurant was polite and friendly.

The Lodge at Sonoma was a lovely place to stay while making our way through wine country. The rooms were set up like little cottages on 2 levels. We were on a second floor and had a lovely view of the blooming trees and gardens surrounding us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Each night there was a wine tasting hosted by a different local vineyard. There is also a nice pool and spa, neither of which I used since I was busy seeing the surrounding area. The "Navigators" aka concierges, were very helpful in recommending dining and winery excursions. Some even gave little hints about showing their cards at certain places and getting upgraded in your tasting level. The room was clean and pretty, but showed a little bit of age. They may be in the process of updating the decor but it felt a little out of date. We had some issues with our air conditioning, but maintenance quickly resolved it and the front desk made sure to follow up and check on our satisfaction. The general experience was lovely and I would recommend anyone to stay there. There were plenty of families staying while we were there, so if you are on business, a family or a romantic getaway, this resort fits your needs.

Room Tip: If you have heavy luggage, your best bet is a room on the first floor, since the cottages do not hav...

Stayed at the Lodge in Sonoma, which we thoroughly appreciated. We had the good fortune of having a French hotel navigator, Dominique, who was extremely helpful in planning trips to the wineries. She was able very quickly to get a sense of what kind of places we wanted to visit. We also enjoyed our room, the pool and and the nice "wine country atmosphere". Very nice experience.

The Lodge is conveniently located on Broadway at the other end of the street from Sonoma City Square, an easy 15 minute walk to the Square.

The lodge offers a relaxing "Wine Country" atmosphere combing typical hotel room layouts with small four-plex cottages sprinkled throughout the property. Grounds are uniquely California landscaped, with meandering sidewalks that create "uniquely singular" access to each cottage. Ground level cottages offer secluded patios while second floor cottages offer private balconies.

Hotel staff are excellent geared to provide five star service. On the Hotel grounds is Carneros, and excellent California fare restaurant with a bar and small bar menu.

Pool is geared for families, but in the later part of the evening the pool is primarily populated with adults.

Interior court is equipped with comfortable outdoor sofas and chairs. Many of the groupings have a fire. In the evenings the hotel invites local wineries to host "wine tasting" from 16:00 - 18:00. On thursday evenings the hotels has live music on the patio. The Lodge also has a bar and small "Bistro" style cafe.

Note: We were told the Lodge is under-going renovation that will upgrade all of the cottages.

This hotel is great from which to stage Sonoma and Napa Valley wine tours. The short walk to the Sonoma City Square will offer plenty of unique shopping, restaurants (Sun Flower cafe is great for breakfast) and wine tasting.

The property has a wonderful spa and health center. Strongly recommend a couples massage.

Room Tip: Definitely request a cottage for a more unique experience.
