Owner description: Anaba Wines was founded in 2006 by proprietor John Sweazey when a decades long dream came to fruition. Early inspiration and trips to France in the 1970s helped shape the vision, varietals and vibe for the vineyards and tasting room. Anaba's name originates from cool, upward-flowing anabatic winds that soar and swirl through its sustainably-farmed Carneros Estate vineyards. Gifts of nature, these unique air currents make the vineyard more temperate, slow down the ripening process, and allow the grapes to develop more robust flavors and distinctive varietal characteristics. Anaba Wines became the first winery in Northern California to utilize wind power when it installed a 45-foot wind turbine to harness the anabatic winds. This wind turbine generates electricity for Anaba's tasting room, wine storage, office operations and irrigation pumps for the two estate vineyards. The Anaba tasting room is a charming, recently-renovated 100-year-old farmhouse that provides an intimate and unpretentious tasting experience in which to enjoy Anaba's award-winning wines. Anaba's limited edition, superior quality blends and single varietal wines include Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Rhone-style blends and an excellent selection of dessert wines.

“Small but beautiful”

This winery has gorgeous views. It is so windy!!! Definitely bring a sweater if you go later in the day. "Betty" was our wine guy and he was quite a hoot.

Thank Amy H

“great small vineyard”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

We stopped here with a suggestion from our concierge. What a wonderful little winery. I am a big red drinker but loved several of the whites here. They also have some impressive dessert wines.

“Great find while driving through the country ...”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

We recently stayed in Sonoma County for a few days with the sole intention of doing our first wine country vacation. We visited many good vineyards and wineries. Sampled and purchased wines and had a great experience at all but 1 winery. However, on our last day soon before we had to leave to go back to SF for our flight, we happened upon Anaba Wines ... partially because they were open later in the day than some of the other wineries and we wanted to fit in 1 more tasting. What a great surprise! They say the best things in life are unexpected ... so true. Doug immediately came over to greet us and to start the explanation of their winery and where their grapes came from. He was a great host and truly helped made this a great visit. We did not taste a single wine on this visit that we did not love. Ended up buying more wine here than at any other stop we made. In fact, it's the only winery we were interested in joining their wine club. However, thanks to the great state of Indiana, they cannot ship to us, so we'll have to get creative to join their club. Anyway, take the time to stop at Anaba, walk around their small, yet gracious and beautiful site, sit on their back patio and enjoy the view and their great wines.

“On the list and map for VISA Signature members BUT...”

they no longer participate with the program...we were disappointed by this news. The tasting room was very small. We decided to leave...they should be removed from the map/website if they do not participate. We did not try their wines therefore I can not comment on quality.

“Fantastic wine and great service!”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

This was the third (and fourth) time I've visited Anaba, and compared to my last visit, it was absolutely outstanding! My first visit was great, second not so much, so visiting for the third time, I wasn't sure what to expect. We were immediately greeted, although the pourer at the counter was helping 6-8 people aready. He said if we'd like to taste on the patio, he'd get us started with the first pour, and Buck would finish the pours outside. We went out, and when it was time for our second pour, we were actually greated by another gentleman, who had just started there a few days earlier. He took us through our tasting and was fantastic. He made us feel welcomed, told us about himself, asked about us, and was overall very friendly.

We took our friends back another time before we left, and had another exceptional experience. This time, we did have Buck as our pourer, and he was very friendly, answered any questions we had about the wine, and shared a lot about Anaba's background, the significance of the turbine, and made us feel more than welcomed. Both these experiences blow my second visit out of the water (which must have been a fluke). The wines are great (Pink is the reason I came back and my husband loves the White Aero Port). We will definitely return to Anaba when we return to Sonoma.
