“Beautifully kept place. Dogs welcome!”

We were on a biking trip and stopped here for one night. Roman Bath was included and only for that reason we took it. Fun, but expensive kind of tourist trap if not included.
Service is excellent. Some in our party had to wait for over an hour for their room (not me) and we all got a delicious complementary bottle of bubbly as an apology!! It is pet friendly, so lots of families with dogs happily frolicking in the super well kept lawns, but rooms smell absolutely fresh. Bed/linens are in great shape, bathroom is super spacious and impeccable. It might be a little overrated, but if you can get the lower rates it's really worth it.
Keep in mind it's a little ways out of town and not walking distance from local attractions.
Diner at Santé an ABSOLUTE must (but that's my next review)

My husband and I just spent 2 nights in this hotel. On a positive note, the grounds are beautiful. Other than that the property is way over priced and not worth the $$. Our room was circa 1980s with no drapes or bathtub. The room smelled musty and the bed was uncomfortable. Also very small with awkward layout. I really don't get the 5 star reviews here. Major renovations are needed to bring the property into this decade. I would not stay here again or recommend to friends. Very disappointing.

Dear Tableforfeight, Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I apologize for your disappointments with your room. We appreciate your feed back so we may work to continue to improve our rooms and offerings for a better experience in the future. We have renovated many of our rooms and suites already and I am sorry that you were not in one of those renovated rooms. We do hope you may consider trying a different room or suite category in the future, one that was more recently renovated and which you may enjoy more. Kind regards, Guest Service Manager

The Fairmont is slightly out of "town" but well worth the short drive. The amenities cannot be beat and the staff is very accomodating. I strongly recommend at least one stay here. For members of the loyalty program, there are free bicycles and free wifi (you can join when you arrive). The pool is a mineral pool and is kept at a refreshing, cool temperature. The spa is one of the best I've ever been to and also has multiple mineral pools and a bathing ritual. Sante is a great choice for a 5-star dining experience, but don't forget breakfast at the Big 3...literally the best apple juice you will ever drink. Things can get pricey here but considering what you will most likely spend on wine, it's woth it.

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn is just a wonderful place. The ambiance is perfect for a retreat to Sonoma and our stay couldn't have been more relaxing or romantic. It is a must stay whenever you are in Sonoma. The grounds were fantastic, the people very engaging and professional, the food was wonderful, etc. Definitely a must see...

I spent a night there in June 2014. This is not a five-star hotel, and it doesn't live up to Fairmont's standards. We found it to be shabby: there were dirty dishes across the hall from our room when we checked in, and they were still there 12 hours later when we checked out. At the pool, there were used towels all over the place; no one seemed interested in collecting them. Finally, the buildings need a paint job, the hallways/corridors in the outer buildings are dank and dirty, and the main restaurant for breakfast is not even on the main grounds. While it's only a short walk from the grounds, it's strange to leave them for breakfast in what is basically a diner that is affiliated with the hotel. (Admittedly, the food was good.)

Overall, just a weird hotel and a weird experience for anyone who's seeking a distinctive and interesting five-star experience. Don't be lured in or tempted by the interesting architecture.

I understand that it's an old property, but there are many great old hotels that are much, much better kept.

I also stayed at the Westin Verasa in Napa on the same trip, and it was excellent. It's a new facility with lots of great design and character, and the service is incomparable. The Carneros Inn, between Napa and Sonoma, is also supposed to be excellent.

A wonderful hotel with great service and food. Lovely ambiance in the lobby and spa and the fire pit outside is a great place to relax and have a glass of Californian wine! Don't miss the free wine and cheese tasting in the evening too!
