Beautiful property, very polite and courteous staff. We stayed in the main building and our room was a bit on the smallish side. Our friend stayed in one of the garden rooms and the room was significantly larger and better appointed. Ask for one of those. The hotel is close to town but definitely not walking distance. They will arrange for transportation very easily if you don't want to drive. Its wonderfully quiet and has beautiful gardens. We did not use the pool or spa so I can't opinionate on that. The breakfast place was great.

Room Tip: Ask for the garden rooms. The main building rooms are on the smallish side.

This hotel is beautiful. Classic mission-style hotel in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. When we arrived at 7:30pm, they did not have our room ready for us. No apologies, discounts or even a free glass of wine. We waited in the hotel lobby bar where one glass of wine and two appetizers came to just under $100 with tip. We thought they might pick up the tab since we were waiting so long for our room to be readied...no such luck. The Big 3 restaurant was very good for breakfast, though you do have to walk slightly off the hotel grounds to get there. Not really a big inconvenience. I do wish I had realized that this hotel is 2.8 miles away from downtown Sonoma, so if you are looking for anything beyond what the hotel has to offer it is a drive and a parking hassle. The valet parking staff was very quick and attentive, though I would suggest skipping the valet and self-park. The valet costs quite a bit and self-park is free and it is closer to the lobby than is the Big 3 Restaurant. The noise level at night got a bit out of hand. At around 12:30am a large group came back from a wedding. Don't know if that is typical, but it happened on our stay.

Great visit here especially with stay in a suite and visit to spa. We always enjoy the mud scrub and hot tubs. Easy also to go to Big 3 Restaurant, good breakfast. Comfortable and quiet. Pool also nice.

Tip - Big 3 Restaurant is easier to see than the Boyes sign. Be sure to turn in there.
Everything, from the linens to the furnishing and fixtures, is of the finest quality. The interior design and the landscaping all set the tone for the start of a carefree, escape from the everyday world. The staff really does know your name. When the staff greets you with a "Good Morning", it is genuine.

We just returned from 3 nights at the Fairmont Sonoma and had a lovely time. The service was very good and friendly, the lobby and bar area were very nice, and we liked the touch of wine tasting in the evenings. The room was a bit small, but very nicely decorated. The pool was packed, but that didn't stop us from having a good time and service poolside was fantastic! The only odd thing was the pool location next to Sante, the first night we got there, we wore our robes to walk to the pool for an evening swim, we felt highly uncomfortable with diners from Sante overlooking the pool area - I think they felt uncomfortable too. Still, it's a great pool - enjoy it during the day!

Room Tip: Our room was off the lobby in one of the wings, it's a bit small, but very nice - we had a view...

We come to Sonoma a couple of times a year and always stay here. Is it a bit on the pricy end for what you get? Yes. Is it a fair assumption that you will have a nice room, good service, access to a great gym, convenient location, and amazing spa? Yes. So we continue to stay here. I do agree with many other reviewers that the price point is a bit high for the level of service and amenities received but it's not a big enough gap to get us to try a new place.

I can't believe anyone thinks this is worth anything close to the price that they're asking for this place. It looks like a Motel 6 on one side of the property and a rundown old hotel in the main building. it's located in the town that's nothing more than a working class farm town filled with crappy restaurants, tourist traps and chain stores.

Couple of things to know: if you stay in the main building the rooms are much not much bigger than the size of the bed and the bathroom looks like something you might've had in a college dorm. We were woken up by the sound of people pacing on the wood floors upstairs.

The hotel moved us to another building which is essentially a somewhat stylized Motel 6 (see pictures). They also kindly provided a low-end cheap champagne but given that we don't really drink it's not that helpful.

In the breakfast diner which espouses to be farm fresh produce the coffee is coming from a Sysco machine.

The so-called hot mineral Springs are capped at 102°.

The water pressure is pathetic even by environmental standards.

There's better amenities at the Marriott SFO.

Whole you can walk out to some low-rent retail, the downtown Sonoma is a good 45 minute walk away through the same low-end retail.

However good things are the parking is free and the grounds impressively large.

I was actually forewarn to switch to the Kenwood Inn but didn't follow that advice unfortunately. Hopefully, you won't make that mistake.
