We arrived late and they waited for us. Took us upstairs to this amazing room with a balcony overlooking the square. We looked around, it was beautiful and within walking distance to everything. We went to dinner, had some wine and a wonderful meal. Walked back to our hotel and it was quiet. I thought, OMG, we are the only ones in this hotel. After a very bad night's sleep (not due the the comfort of the beds because they were great), we (I because my husband slept like a log), got dressed and went downstairs to a discover that it was a full house. I looked around and thought, where were all these people last night! I discovered the hotel was filled (they do only have six rooms). But the hotel is so well done, the rooms so beautiful, and believe me - there is not noise!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Ledson Hotel for our honeymoon. They did everything in their power to make us feel welcome and pampered. We actually got to meet the owner of the hotel and vineyard Steve Ledson who came into the bar the first night we were there!( He was very nice) We also got a free private wine tasting at the vineyard for staying at the hotel. We had breakfast delivered to our room every morning and had a beautiful time eating on our private balcony. The room was very clean and very welcoming with a complimentary bottle of Ledson wine. The service was outstanding as was the general overview of the hotel. We also got an extensive wine tasting downstairs at the bar our first night which was an amazing treat and what a way to welcome us to wine country! I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to Sonoma whether for wine or pleasure : )

A quaint small (6 room) hotel right on the old town Sonoma town square. Owned by Ledson winery this is a perfect home base to explore the winery's in the Sonoma area. Great staff - manager Sam took care of everything with a smile and great attitude. You can walk to numerous restaurants and bars. Check out the Sonoma mission (1 blk) hang out at the bar in the hotel with outdoor tables and great wine tastings. We normally stay in large resort stlye hotels but this was a great change and slower pace where you can relax and meet people on a smaller more intimate scale - without all the formality. A great couple or couples get away. Highly recommend. Also the manager set us up for a free VIP wine tasting at the Ledson winery - one of the oldest private estates in Ca. They only sell their wine at the winery and the hotel!. Was a fantastic experience. Also had a great dinner a block away at La Salete - incredible food and sit at the bar right in the open kitchen - have all the wine you want and walk home!

My wife and I stayed at the Ledson Hotel the weekend of August 22, 2008 for two nights. We loved it!

If you are looking for a high-end spa experience, with lots of sucking up, then stay some place else. If you are looking for a weekend at a small, elegant hotel with luxurious, romantic rooms, and a friendly staff, then this is a great place.

We arrived Friday afternoon and were greeted by the owner, Michelle Ledson,. Our luggage was taken to our room. Michelle showed us around, and gave us her personal numbers to call if we needed anything. A private complimentary wine tasting was arranged at the Ledson Castle/Winery. The hotel is Victorian, with beautiful hardwoods and trim, comfortable beds, jacuzzi tubs, marble showers and other high-end finishes.

Having a glass of wine or a martini in the downstairs lobby/bar/lounge makes you feel like you are back at the turn of the century in an elegant hotel (but with air conditioning). The staff is friendly and down to earth. The other plus is you are in town and within walking distance to at least half a dozen great restaurants (We recommend outside dining at Della Santina and The Girl and the Fig). Sure, you are in town, on the square and there are people on the square, in the evening, but we found the streets rolled up pretty early. We had no problems with noise after 11:00, even with the lounge below our room.

In the morning, the staff pointed out a great walking path just down the street that went through several vineyards. The breakfast was a simple continental, coffee, tea, fresh juices, fruit, yogurt and granola. Sure, they could use more/better pastries, but after the lunches and dinners on our trip, something light for breakfast is not unwelcome. If your looking for a beautiful small hotel, with romantic rooms, a down to earth staff in the heart of it all, we recommend the Ledson.

Yes, the rooms are lovely but I'm afraid that is as far as it goes. Conde Naste said this was a new hotel to watch....I suggest they go again and 'watch' for themselves.
We had a room on the front which was noisy - the bar next door was open until the small hours, their patrons leaving with much joy! And why put the fridge in the bedside cabinet, the motor running all night next to one's ear. Huge bathroom but no work space to put out toileteries - they had to stay in the bags on the floor. Lots of lights but not one adequate to apply make up. Minor points on the room front but at these prices.....
Breakfast was a joke. Luke warm coffee, very dry croissants - either provide a decent spread or forget breakfast inclusion. The only staff present one morning failed to acknowledge us and remained reading a newspaper with her coat on.
Staff were offhand (apart from the 2 barmen), even Michelle the owner found it hard to greet us when we walked in even though there were a total of only 6 guests.
It is obvious that this is just a little hobby for the Ledson outfit. No attempt at service or even common courtesy. If they wish to continue in business they should try harder at guest satisfaction.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. Don't worry about the common areas being very limited (only the lounge dowstairs), the rooms are so nice, you may not want to leave anyway. Definitely get a room overlooking the square. Marble, hard wood floors, and big oversized beds make this place feel very luxurious. Only downside was breakfast - simply a continental, which I was expecting a little more. No big deal, just plan on eating out around town.

We stumbled across this hotel after being told to go to Sonoma instead of Napa. From the moment we walked throught the front door, we felt looked after. We encountered none of the issues mentioned in previous reviews. Yes, it was pricey, but I didn't feel that we were ripped off in any way. The staff were friendly and helpful, not overly obtrusive, but there if you needed someone. Having stayed in large corporates for the previous 2 weeks, this was a breath of fresh air. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and Sonoma as a lovely place to visit.
