“Spacious Hotel”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

We stayed here while visiting Yosemite for 2 nights. Its about an 1.5 hr drive to yosemite.Hotel is located in a safe neighbourhood short distance to restuarants , the free breakfast was nice ,front desk handed us coupons and we had to choose 1 between 3 options. the room was spacious with comfortable bed. No wifi connectivity in the room . After we complained to the front desk numerous times it didnt get fixed. Other than wi fi , everything else was pleasant.

The people running this hotel could not have been nicer but the two-hour drive to Yosemite valley was too far so we changed hotels. The Best Western has a restaurant on-site and gives vouchers for breakfast - which was very good. This seems to be a stop for tour groups and meetings. There was a group of 85 tourists from England when we were there - nice to talk to. The room was large and comfortable but had a slight smell suggesting the carpet could use a good cleaning. I would not recommend this hotel if your destination is Yosemite National Park. If you are passing through the area, this is an ok stop.

From the instant you enter this property you will be greeted by extremely friendly front office staff. Although the inn looks a bit dated, the atmosphere is somewhat classic rural charm.
Hot complimentary breakfast is offered in the on-site restaurant (very dated!), but compared to the so called continental breakfasts offerd by other hotels, this is a good way to start your day.
At check-out receptionists will inquire about your plans for the rest of the day, not to be nosy, but so they can give you recommendationt to enhance your vacation, for us they took their time to find us an alternative road for the Tioga Pass.

I stayed at this hotel with a party of 38 UK over 55s for 2 nights. The highlight of their stay was the karaoke closely followed by meeting a group of American Ford Model A enthusiasts. We all had a wonderful time. My room was fine and presented to a very good standard, so no complaints at all. I can't remember what my dinners were like but they must have been okay or I most certainly would have, whether this was due to the fun we had with the karaoke I don't know but breakfast was certainly fine. The locals are very friendly and the standard of their singing is very good indeed, this goes for the DJ too. So obviously going with a group will make your stay that much more enjoyable. To meet up with the Ford Model A drivers club was an unexpected plus. A wonderful group who's men look so dapper and ladies so elegant in their period dress. Again good fun and a great credit to America for keeping these magnificent cars in pristine condition. Would I recommend this hotel to anyone else? You bet your life I would. The only suggestion I would make is that they put at least a dinner menu on their website. It would help potential guests to choose to stay and, in my case, it would have helped jog my memory to write this review.

Desk & restaurant service was fine, except for check out. Because one of our party paid in cash, we had to wait until that room had been physically checked before we could leave! The dinner at the restaurant included either a beverage (beer, wine, or soda) or dessert (bread pudding), which was nice. The menu was large but the food just OK. There were 4 choices for free breakfast the next day: 2 eggs anyway + hashbrowns/pancakes, sausage/bacon, juice, tea/coffee, continental with fresh fruit, pancakes + bacon/sausage, or oatmeal & fresh fruit (all with juice & tea/coffee). Because we booked rather late, we got an ADA accessible room, which we did not need. The rim of the large shower area was low to allow wheelchair access, but water from the shower got out.

There is a shuttle to Yosemite, but it takes 2 hrs. to the park & 3 hrs. back at night.

There are lots of shops & restaurants nearby & only a short drive into Sonora.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the back are quiet.

We had just done Yosemite starting at Oakland, so already had a long day. Got out of Yosemite Village about 6pm and arrived at Hotel about 8.15pm. Reception were helpful and told us about adjacent diner restaurant where we would have breakfast. Did not tell us that dinner finished at 9pm despite giving us discount vouchers for diner. Fortunately we phoned the diner and made the deadline! We had an excellent dinner at a reasonable price. The adjoining bar was packed with other Tourists from the UK on a coach tour, so a good night was had swopping stories!! Rooms were large and comfortable and breakfast was good as we got served instead of the usual help yourself scramble. Although a long way from Yosemite, a lot of hotels in the area are a little basic as you are in the mountains.

Room Tip: If you have heavy luggage pick a ground floor, there is no lift/elevator.
