Description: Crossings is a beautifully built, fine dining restaurant located in the historic Mission District of South Pasadena. We offer modern interpretations of classic American food focused on serving only the best ingredients available. Food is prepared in our open kitchen located in the center of the first floor of the brick and mortar building first constructed in 1908. The extensive and always growing wine program is housed in a wine loft, located between the first and second floors, completely visible from the first floor dining room and street. Behind the building is a beautiful patio, nestled under the branches of a 100 year old oak tree and right next to the Metro Gold Line light rail, offering a very urban experience. Upstairs at Crossings features two more dining rooms to enjoy the food, service, and ambience of Crossings. We look forward to helping create a wonderful experience for you at Crossings!

“A welcome addition to our locale”

We were a party of 4, having dinner at Crossings mid week. We had no idea what to expect, no word of mouth for this restaurant. One from our party just happened to drive by and notice a new restaurant. So we thought we'd try it.
Excellent !! It was excellent from the service, to the atmosphere, to the wine list and the varied menu items. It was a great find, we will be back !

“welcome to the neighborhood!!!”

I found this new gem and I was really impressed. The interior of the restaurant plus the quality of the food and the professional staff equals a really enjoyable evening. Patrick the owner came over and introduced himself, explained his vision and so far I must say well done!!! I had the filet which was perfect!! I would suggest a minor tweak, the beer selection is rather weak..A few draught selections is in order.. Parking is so easy, I love the no valet offering!!!! I dined during the L.A. dine week so the fixed menu was a great offering. The prices I think are very very fare.. FANTASTIC!!!!

“Very good, but not quite great”

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time in December 2013. We are long-time residents of South Pasadena and are always happy to try a new restaurant. I was able to obtain a same-day reservation for a Friday evening. Although street parking is scarce, there is a free parking structure just north of Mission on Meridian that is very convenient.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were offered a table next to the front door which we declined and we were seated upstairs which was much better in terms of foot traffic and drafts. We were immediately welcomed by our waiter and the service throughout our stay was very attentive and I would rate it excellent. We selected an Ahi Poke appetizer and it was very tasty. The wine list is extensive but wines available by the glass were somewhat limited and ranged in price from $9-15. The corkage fee here is $15, so bringing your own bottle may be worth considering. Unlike most restaurants, a basket of fresh bread was not offered, rather you were offered a slice of bread and the waiter serving bread appeared but once.

My wife selected an entree of Black Cod served with cous cous, chorizo and piquillo and I selected the filet mignon with thyme reduction, mashed potatoes and green beans. We often order Black Cod and are accustomed to this fish served Asian style with a miso or sake sauce which is very flavorful. By contrast the dish at Crossings, despite the assumption that the chorizo would provide some zest, was quite bland. The filet mignon did not disappoint, the thyme reduction was outstanding and the portion was appropriate

The dessert selection is limited and we chose to share a pear-raspberry tart a la mode which was very good. The only glitch in the service was that the bill arrived at the same time as our dessert, a bit too soon in our judgement. The setting of this restaurant in an older building along Mission Street near the South Pasadena Metro station is very appealing, tastefully decorated and comfortable.

“Good Start but Needs a Little Tweaking”

We enjoyed dinner at Crossings, the new restaurant in South Pasadena. It had been long awaited and anticipated by the locals. The executive summary is that it will be a very good restaurant. It has the experience in management from some of the better local restaurants to make it a potential hot spot. Is it there now? Not quite but probably worth the visit anyway. The restaurant is very nicely appointed with an open kitchen on the first floor. There is some seating on the first floor but the majority of seating and the small bar is on the second floor.

The food was good but there were a few glitches but I suspect they will be worked out. One of the dishes was prepared in a way completely different than the menu described. Unfortunately, one of our guests could note eat some of the preparation. To their credit, the dish was immediately re-prepared and we were graciously accommodated.

The food was generally very good though I might steer clear of the Caesar salad as it was very salty. The salmon and sea bass were excellent and highly recommended. Also, the short rib appetizer was excellent.

The prices are a little high for a "neighborhood" restaurant but Crossings raises the bar on your standard small town restaurant.

Crossings will get there and we will easily return without hesitation.

“First Service Dinner”

First public dinner service on Monday 12/9/13

From First Service Saturday 12/7/13:

Ceviche...fresh and flavorful. Loved by all.
Scallop...gone in a flash.
Short Rib bites.......wrapped in bacon atop polenta.
Oysters on the Half Shell w/Mango Mignonette...loved by the 3 oyster eaters in our group.
Persimmon & Burrata Salad... a must.

Surf & Turf Burger...an original must have. A nice mound of crayfish dressed in roasted garlic aioli, atop a perfectly done burger. Everyone said they could eat a bowl of just the crayfish as it was so delicious!
Colorado Lamb Chops....both parties who ordered this dish, loved it!!!
Swordfish w/roasted corn salsa...diner said it was AMAZING.
Kurobata Pork Chop....so perfect!

No valet. Street parking is easy within a one block area along Mission Street as well as on the surrounding side streets. Bar on second floor & outdoor dining in the back patio.

This restaurant is for......dining. It's not a pub or bar focused to screen sports games where people find it appropriate to holler at professional athletes who will never hear you. It's a place for dining. It does have 2 bars on both floors. The layout of the 2nd floor with a nice bar, shares the same space as the dining area. (2 steps from the bar & you are at a table). I would never want to have competing noise pollution, nor the volume of the dining environment get super loud. I like to speak and have nice conversation while......dining.
This restaurant offers the perfect environment.
You won't find chicken fingers, crayons or people arriving in casual attire. The atmosphere is friendly, inviting and visually appropriate, without attitude. It doesn't call to anyone looking for the goal of food and alcohol consumption in, "The Land of Mediocrity"/corporate, chain restaurants. This new addition to the neighborhood is a great place to...........dine.

Worth the drive from Beverly Hills/Santa Monica.
