“We can't wait to return!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2009

We spent a delightful weekend at this lovely B&B recently and can't wait to return! This is a beautifully restored Craftsman home in a serene and peaceful setting. Pat, owner of the B&B, and her husband, Russ, couldn't have been more welcoming. Our room was charming and made even more enjoyable by the homemade (by Pat) toffee that we found waiting for us. In the afternoon we were treated to yummy wine, cheese and homemade chocolate chip oatmeal cookies were an additional treat! The bed was sooo comfortable. Breakfast on both days was a definite gourmet experience...warm blueberry cobbler, oatmeal cookie pancakes, bacon, fresh squeezed orange, cafe lattes, and that was just the first day! Its obvious that Pat and Russ love meeting new people and entertaining their guests is a real joy for them. As we left on Sunday we felt as if we were leaving new friends behind...it won't be long before we return! We've stayed in quite a few B&B's over the past few years and Arroyo Vista Inn is at the top of our list!

everything about the hotel was fabulous! the rooms were all beautiful, it was hard to select a favorite. the beds were so comfortable, i was sorry to leave and return to my own bed. the common spaces and rooms were beautifully decorated and it felt more like a boutique hotel rather than a B&B. the breakfasts were wonderfully prepared, elegantly served in ample quantity. Bathrooms were also updated and comfortable. there is a lovely private front porch to relax on as well. the hosts were lovely and engaging but were unobstrsive.

well worth the price.

We celebrated our 27th anniversary here, also visited our son at Occidental College (only 3 miles away) and made time to tour the Huntington Gardens, Library and Art Museum. Pat has done a marvelous job restoring the splendor of this lovely home with spectacular views. The food, the room, the people we met at the inn all were so wonderful we stayed an additional day and did not want to leave this lovely piece of paradise.

This is one of the classiest B & B's we've stayed in. Very nicely decorated and located in beautiful setting. Breakfast was delicious and had a variety of items to taste! We can't wait to go back! Also loved the cheese and wine in the afternoon.

If you have reason to be in Pasadena or as we did, to visit relatives in Glendale/Eagle Rock section of LA, then this is a beautiful place to stay.
Our room was on second floor with access to a porch. The old house has a formal dining room, sitting room and living room. Grand piano. Beautiful woodwork. We were only there for one night on our way home and we missed the wine and cheese in the afternoon, but had the best oatmeal cookie pancakes for breakfast.

This beautifully restored, 3-story ca.1910 historic home, turned cozy B&B, is a surprising get-away within the city. Located on a hill surrounded by oak trees, with wide verandas, it harkens back to a time when life in LA moved more slowly. It is one of only two B&B's that exist in the Pasadena area.
The 10 upstairs guest rooms have a Euro feel, with down comforters and antiques. Each room has a different layout: some are larger than others; some have big windows (which unfortunately do not open); others have porches accessable from the room; another, under the 3rd-floor eaves, has sloped ceilings. Rooms at the front of the house (where we stayed) have great views, but get sounds from cars and the light-rail trolly going by below. Rooms at the back face a peaceful wooded hillside, and are more shielded from traffic noise. Each bath is different as well: some have deep tubs but no shower; others have a tub/shower combo; some baths have a window, others don't. There is individually-controlled heat/AC in each room, but none of the windows open, which I found frustrating because I prefer fresh air.
Breakfast included fresh seasonal fruit, juice from local orange trees, delicious home made pasteries, eggs to order, and more. The staff was very helpful in accommodating my special dietary restrictions.
The ground-floor living room and dining room are spacious, comfortable, and decorated with antiques, and the verandas on two sides are appointed with comfortable rattan furniture. Wine and cheese were offered in the afternoon, and there is a mini-fridge in the living room with complimentary beverages available 24/7.
This is a great place to stay if you want to take in anything in the Pasadena/LA area -- it has a great location with easy access to freeways and to the light-rail system that can take you south into downtown LA, or north and east to Pasadena, Arcadia, etc. At the end of the day, you feel like you are "coming home" , rather than "going back to the hotel".

I was pleasantly suprised as to how lovely this South Pasadena bed & breakfast was. The inn keeper was very delightful and accomodating. The room was large and comfortable. The fresh made toffee upon arrival was amazing. The only small complaints were that the bathtub did not have a stopper, so I had to bathe in the tub in the room across the hall.
The common areas were comfortable and the breakfast yummy.
