Courtyard San Francisco Airport/Oyster Point Waterfront
Reviewed 12 December 2013

This was a great Courtyard with a beautiful lobby. The general manager checked us in and was incredibly helpful in giving directions and made sure we had everything we needed. The rooms are basic Courtyard, but very nice and clean. It's a bit tucked away behind some offices and I wished there were more as far as restaurants around, but no fault of the hotel. Thanks for a great stay!

Arrived at this hotel in the late evening. The front desk clerk was the absolute, nicest, happiest, most helpful, most polite Marriott employee on the planet. We stay at plenty. I didn't get her name but she wears her hair in a long braid and works the night shift. Check-in was very smooth and quick and they loaded us up with free bottled water. Room was clean and comfy and beautiful view (Room #450). Ate dinner in the Bistro. Again, great service from our food server. Even opened our own bottle of wine and provided glasses. Food was okay and a bit pricey but hey, hotel food is always pricey. There is no other place to eat around so if you have no car, it's not too bad and the menu is pretty decent for a little hotel bistro. We got a pizza that was hotel pizza (don't expect gourmet a hotel) and a French Dip that was really good. They have cool little mini-lounges where about four people can sit and command your own personal sized TV during dinner. This was a very enjoyable hotel and I can't wait to return. The bartender, the server, the morning barista....all just super nice and friendly.

Room Tip: Room 450 is a great room. Close enough to the elevator and ice machine that it is a really short wa...

This was our last hotel on a 3+ week journey coming home from SE Asia. We had to wait about 30 minutes for the shuttle at the airport but it was such a beautiful morning we didn't mind. After multiple stops we arrived before noon and luckily they had a room for us facing the lake. The room was very nice, clean and finally a comfortable Marriott bed, yea!!! We took a walk along the path to the marina and back trying to stay awake. Finally we went to the Bistro for a late lunch or early dinner only to discover that they were closed and wouldn't open for another hour. We went to the front desk where they told us their shuttle would take us to pick up something to eat which we did. We had a really early flight the following morning which was no problem because the shuttle begins running at 4am. We caught the 5am shuttle which was surprisingly full. Nice job, Marriott.

I'm a Marriott platinum member and have seen my share of Marriott hotels from around the world. First time staying at this Courtyard.

Solid hotel. Clean, efficient and moderately convenient to SFO (there is a free shuttle that picks up at all the nearby hotels that runs ~every 25min).

Staff is very professional and helpful.

Upon checkin, the previous guest in the room I was assigned had left the thermostat setting at 55F and of course it felt like walking into a refrigerated meat locker. Since I had checked in at night, I didn't want to sit in a cold room for several hours waiting for the room to warm up to "normal" room temperatures.

Contacted the front desk staff member who checked me in and he promptly moved me to another room even though the hotel was booked full. I reset the thermostat to 68F so that at least whomever checked in later that night would not be walking into a freezing room like I did!

The hotel has a pseudo Starbucks on site as well as a light bistro type restaurant (light fare) that is ok.

Unfortunately, no local dining nearby within walking distance, but the hotel provides shuttle service to/from restaurants nearby if desired.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the SF Bay have nice view; the rooms facing Highway 101 lack view but are quiet due to...

If possible, stay at the Airport Marriott instead. It is a lot more upscale and attractive. That is not to take anything away from this property, which was perfect for a night before a flight. This is not where I would stay long term, however the rooms are comfortably sized, clean, the bed was good, and the airport/rental car return was about a 5 minute drive. There is some modernization/repair needed.....the drapes in our room were ripped, and most frustratingly the phone was not working well, when picking it up for the wake up call, it rang again repeatedly, fairly annoying at 5 AM. There is a decent restaurant in the lobby which is open until 10.

We appreciate your commenting regarding your stay with us at the Oyster Point Courtyard by Marriott. Please accept my apology for the ripped curtains in your room. I feel bad that you did not have a completely enjoyable visit. In order to continue improving our product we will renovate all of our rooms starting in February. The rooms will feature a more upscale decor with warm inviting colors. We do hope that you will come back and visit us again in the future after our upgrades have been completed.

Upon arriving at this off-the-beaten-path gem, the person checking us in gave us grief over arriving so late. Once we were in the room, all we could smell were cigarettes and musty a/c. The rooms are fairly basic, but the beds were comfortable.

There is no continental breakfast, but there is a full service cafe. Everything is expensive, so order lightly. I paid using united vouchers, but the little man behind the register didn't offer any alternatives to change given that our meal cost $16 and I paid with $21. Maybe he could suggest an extra juice or coffee instead of looking dishonest. Food wasn't even good.

After our meal, we let the front desk and the shuttle driver know that we wanted to catch the 9:02 to the airport. At 9:15 we asked the front desk if they had any updates on when to expect the driver. "I will check". At 9:25 the manager arrived and ordered everyone cabs since the driver was nowhere to be found. They have a list of shuttle times, but I guess it means nothing. At 9:30 the cab showed and took us to the airport. We barely made our flight since this hotel is about 10 minutes from the airport.

Won't ever stay here again. Too far, too expensive, and too unorganized.

Room Tip: Stay at a hotel that is closer to the airport and has no problems with their shuttle service. Otherw...

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent stay at our hotel. We appreciate the constructive criticism concerning the shuttle issues and your breakfast experience. I feel bad that the shuttle did not show up; this was an isolated incident with the shuttle that day, regardless you should not have experienced a delay in getting to the airport. I wanted to take a moment to make a public apology and acknowledge that your recent stay clearly did not live up to the expectations you had for us and that we set for ourselves. Feedback of any kind is the nourishment that lets us grow and we hope that we have the opportunity to earn you back as a guest in the future.

As Courtyards go the hotel seemed very reasonable, not better, not worse. The restaurant staff was great and the food was actually fairly good. The hotel shuttle is handy but it takes a while and there are lots of hotels on the route. I had a first floor room and was having a lot of trouble getting cell phone reception which has not happened in a long time when traveling.
