“Great serviceand free airport shuttle every 30 minutes.”
Reviewed 17 November 2011

Fantastic personnel and even cleaning ladies that speak English! If you take the Holiday Inn Express shuttle you have to walk a half a block. The Holiday Inn shuttle leave the hotel at ten and forty after the hour. An I-Hop is across the street. If you order coffee, be sure to ask for the price. The menu shows how many calories but no price for the coffee! I can see why. The cost is $2.49. Bring your own pound and save! About a half block from the hotel is a great Chinese buffet with excellent variety. A local call is 26 cents and additional minutes 21 cents! Wow.

I liked almost everything about this hotel. The furnishings were in good shape, the beds were big and comfortable, the room was quiet (no airport noise!) and great for sleeping. The bathroom was well equipped but somewhat older and it had some evidence of previous water damage. The free internet was fast and reliable. The TV was a large flat-screen attached to the wall with about 40 channels including several HBO's (but no HD channels so the picture had bad aspect ratio). Nice people. The airport shuttle ran every 30 minutes, close to schedule even though it served several other hotels. Getting into the city could be easier - you either have to shuttle back to the airport and BART or walk about a mile to Caltrain - too bad they can't shuttle there too.

Extremely comfortable beds and pillows, flat-screen tv with multiple channels, 24 hour fitness room, clean, parking available for $7/night. Lousy restaurant at hotel but who needs that when you have all of San Francisco. Crazy easy access to airport. The staff was extremely helpful and efficient when we had to come in a day earlier that our original reservation. We booked this hotel through Priceline "Name Your Own Price" and therefore it was an amazing bargain, about 70% off list price. This hotel is a comfortable step above the basic airport hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms face either freeway or airport, the rooms have a constant running fan option on the thermo...

I stayed at this hotel prior to a very early morning flight. The hotel was an easy 6 or 7 minutes from the airport--not as close as I thought it would be.

The hotel seemed very nice; the lobby was attractive, and the lounge area adjacent to the lobby was very inviting, with a large open seating area and interesting seating configurations. Our room in the South Tower was very nice, a notch or two above what one expects from a Holiday Inn in terms of decor. The double beds were comfortable, and both firm and soft pillows (labeled) were provided. The bed linens were great--nice thread count, soft, cuddly and very clean (again, above the normal Holiday Inn standard). The room had a frig in it--a nice touch. The bathroom was a decent size, with marble counter and a great shower.

My only complaint was related to the airport shuttle. It runs twice an hour to and from the Holiday Inn and 3 other hotels, and while it did arrive at our airport stop ALMOST on time, it took more than 30 minutes to get to our hotel. Not only did the driver have to make other airport stops (understandable), but he drove RIGHT past our hotel (which was closest to the highway) on the way from the airport, stating that he could not stop at the Holiday Inn because of "the schedule". At the first stop he made, no one got off...and no passengers got on. What a waste! He made a second stop, which took about 6 minutes to reach, and then, finally, he drove us to the Holiday Inn. My sister and I were so dismayed that we opted to take a taxi to the airport for our very early flight the next morning, which cost us an additional $15. Very disappointing.

I'll keep it short and in list form

Modern rooms
Flat screen tv with multiple HBO channels
Spacious
Very comfortable bed and pillows
Strong shower spray.
Good water temperature
Seat of toilet was NOT very clean. Had to wipe it off and I used a makeshift tissue covering
Showed very clean

No odd smells or stains anywhere
Friendly staff. Very accommodating with non smoking room requests
Thin walls- not a problem for heavy-average sleepers but may become a problem for lightsleepers

Extremely cheap on hotwire. They did not treat me any differently because of it.

Very expensive to take taxi into city. Think 40+ bucks.

Overall, worth the money and would do it again if travelling on a budget

While this is an "older" Holiday Inn ... when I checked in for a week-long meeting, all I could say was "WOW!" The staff was oustanding!!

Since I flew in from the east coast, I arrived at 11am, much before their standard check in time, the hotel had been sold out the night before, but the front desk agent recognized my Platinum status with Priority Club and did his best to find me a room quickly. I was willing to just drop off my bags with the front desk and head downtown for tourist time, but he told me he could find something within 10-15 minutes. Sure enough, 5 minutes later, he had gotten me a king room (the same room I reserved!) The room was spacious and I had never seen a chaise lounge chair in a hotel room before. It was very comfortable for relaxing and watching some tv. The bathrooms are small, but that's common for an older hotel, the bed was very nice and I loved the pillows. Not too hard, not too soft. Just right.

The location from the airport was ideal, a mere 5 minute drive (and they do have a shuttle service too). I had gotten up early the next morning and asked the night manager if it was safe to run on the main road (and if there were sidewalks to make it safe as well) - he told me to go down to the Costco a few buildings down and there was a running/walking trail that ran along the Bay. I was a little creeped out because it was so early in the morning that there were not any other people out there and it was a little remote - but I'm sure during the day there would be more people there, or if you go with a friend, it's completely safe. I had a great 5 mile run and was back to the hotel in no time at all. SO much nicer than running down a busy road, dodging traffic at intersections.

The Houlihan's Restaurant was delicious. I ate there at least 4-5 times during the week, and everything I had was excellent. The service was outstanding and since it's a sports bar, it's always hopping. Not like a hotel bar where you go to get a beer and it's just you and the bartender. It had a great atmosphere and lots of activity.

If you're stopping over on a quick trip in or out of SFO airport, this hotel is a great choice. You'll get a comfortable bed, a delicious meal and great service!

Room Tip: My room was on the 5th floor, I usually prefer to take the stairs to/from my rooms so I don't ha...

They just put a bunch of money into this place as a remodel. Its horrible. Elevators move about a floor a minute. Rooms have flatscreens and new bedding and lighting but everything else is anceint and old. I think the people who built Alcatraz stayed here while constructing that place. It is close to the airport, but after seeing how many others are close to the airport, I'll go to choice "B" next time. The only good thing that came out of staying there was Priority Club points.
