Great location if you would rather not pay for parking in San Francisco. Room was clean and roomy. Furniture was attractive and comfortable. Bed was great. We used the hotel shuttle to travel to the BART station at the airport. Worked out well on the way to the airport but when we returned on a Sunday evening we waited over an hour for the shuttle to come. We finally asked one of the other drivers and was told we should call on the phone located in the pick up spot. We called and were told the shuttle was on-call only on Sunday evening. This would have been fine if we had been told this fact when we asked about the shuttle service. The pros far outweighed the cons for our stay at this hotel.

After an easy drive from SFO we found an ample parking lot for our car
.
Check-in was quick and efficient as we got all the preferences requested when we booked directly through the hotel site.

Since it was our first stay at Hilton Garden Inn we found the room way above our expectations clean and functionnal with very useful free WiFi internet access. Bedding was good without the need to ask for more pillows.

Drapes and curtains were thick enough to darken the room during daytime and no noise from the nearby aiport was to be heard.

Needless to say that the room was perfectly clean and housekeeping discreet and efficient.

I wish we had hotels of this quality during our tour of the California and Utah's National Parks.

The only problem was the terrible smell of fried food that continuously spread in the lobby and around the front desk area due to the proximity of the restaurant and also to a bad air recycling system.

However, this did not prevent me from booking again at this property.

We have no major complaints about our 7 night stay here. The front desk workers were nice, the room was very clean (the most important feature to us), and our room was quiet (6th floor, on a side). The pool and fitness room looked adequate although we did not use them. Housekeeping made sure to call to ask if we needed service when we had the "do not disturb" sign on our door knob, as opposed to knocking on the door. The location is excellent--only minutes from SF. Free and ample parking and high speed wireless Internet access was a definite plus.
A trivial negative point was that the 6th floor hallway always smelled like a sweaty sock at a certain location. The Internet crawled at certain times of the day, but was usable. Also, the price was slightly higher than I would have liked to pay, but in retrospect it was worth it.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

It was hard to find to the courtesy hotel phones on SFO airport. There are all outside and when we finally discovered the phone, the shuttle bus just arrived. Pure luck for us, after a whole day with a delay and missing connection. It is a 10-minute ride to the hotel.

At the front desk was a very friendly and assist full employee, Miranda, and check-in went smooth. I had made a reservation for two nights well in advance, however no upgrades possible in this hotel for Diamond members. The halls are a little bit worn, but the room itself was very good, seemed renovated recently. Good quality beds and furniture, nice bathroom and a refrigerator and microwave. Both nights we slept very well, no noise from in- or outside.

There is a business center (to be opened with room key) with two computers and printers.

We had the breakfast buffet two mornings and on Sunday this was much better than on Saturday, more variety in fruits and hot items. On our second day we took the shuttle to the BART station on the airport. This train gives a very convenient connection; it takes about 25 minutes to go to the city center. On our return we called the hotel and we were picked up in 15 minutes. This was for us an excellent way to visit San Francisco.

On our last day we were brought straight to the car rental company on the airport. Al the drivers on the bus during our stay were very forthcoming.

We recently booked two rooms for two nights here. I was a little worried that it seemed so out of the way but now i'm glad we stayed there. The hotel is very pretty and clean. The lobby's fireplaces were warm and welcoming and a good escape from the drizzly SF weather. We were very warmly greeted and offered cookies. They were very personable and pleasant throughout our whole stay. When we requested a roll away they came right up with it. The porter was super nice and helpfull. He didnt mind that we needed towels and pillows right after he had just brought the rollaway. He went back down and brought us what we needed. No hesitations, no sighs...just a smile.

The beds were the only thing that were not up to par with the hotel. Maybe it was just our room but the beds felt awfully small and uncomfortable. The bedding was nice though. The rollaway was terrible but hey, it served its purpose.

The breakfast was reasonably priced at $10 for the brunch. However the hot food wasn't "hot" or "warm" even. But they had a good selection and the made to order omlete was delicious.

The location was perfect, away from the crazyness and bustle of the city. Safety is super important factor for me whenever i'm away from home and i felt safer at this hotel than in the city. It was a little secluded and was a great stress free enviorment perfect to come home to after a long day of sight seeing.

Next time my fam and i are up in SF, we'll definitly stay here again if the price is right.

HGI's are slowly becoming my "go-to" hotel chain. With one or two exceptions, they consistently deliver what I'm looking for. This one was no different. Overall a solid 4 out of 5 on all the essentials (clean room, quiet, comfortable beds, good location). I travel for business 90% of the time, so I don't really care about local attractions, the pool, etc.

The high- and low-lights:

Location: It's in an office park a few miles north of SFO, but don't let the location fool you. If you're just doing a layover for a flight, then the location is just fine. If you've opted to drive around in the Bay area for a few days, you are pretty centrally located to SF, East Bay (via Bay Bridge) and the rest of the Peninsula (San Mateo, Pacifica, etc.) South SF BART isn't too far either. Free shuttle.

What I like most about this location is the surprising collection of actual restaurants (no chains) not far away on Grand Ave. Not close enough to walk to, but most of them deliver. Front desk has a handy list and some good recommendations.

TV: Not enough channels. They only give you a few cable channels in addition to the networks. I will never understand this.

Bed/Furniture: Beds appeared relatively new when I was there, although maybe just my room. Desk is good. The real plus is the Aeron chair if you plan on doing a lot of work.

Shower/Bath: all good. plenty of hot water, good pressure even on the 5th floor.

Miscellaneous: Serious draft coming under the door even with the windows closed. I had to place a towel along the bottom to muffle the noise. They have the "place the towel on the rack to reuse" card in the bathroom, but housekeeping ignores this routinely and gives you new towels every day. Frustrating.

Got a room for three days through priceline. I was hoping for something at the other nearby hilton (homewood suites) because I've always had excellent experiences there. Well, this hotel is no different (in positives): comfortable rooms, many free extras (free internet, free parking, free laundry!). Food costs money (different than homewood, where you also get a kitchenette) but the price is very reasonable (all you can eat brunch buffet was $10/person!). Room was very quiet (except for the neighbor who set off her alarm at 4am!). Windows you can open for fresh air...full temperature controls, comfortable mattresses, nice bathroom, good cleaning staff, friendly downstairs staff. All in all, this is reinforcing my personal experience that Hilton hotels are the best. And this hotel could easily be a three star hotel - 2.5 stars is a bit harsh, I think. Many times better than the 1 and 2 star hotels I've been staying in recently, and I got it at about the same price! I would definitely stay here again.
