Based on the 5 star ratings and the fact they accept cats, we booked with BW Heritage Inn. First off, I would like to give kudos to the front desk staff. The night before, after a very long day on the road, I had thought I was making reservations for the next day, Dec 19. Upon check in, I was told that I had made the reservations for the previous night Dec 18th and that they no current reservations for us and we were charged for the previous night. Upon seeing my ever so great distress, the front desk contacted the manager who didn't charge us for the 19th as they had already charged us for the 18th. This was greatly appreciated. However, that is the only good review for the hotel.
While the grounds were nicely kept, there were various seedy looking individuals staying there. We were on the ground floor that had a sliding door, but no window. The problem was that the sliding screen wouldn't lock and we felt very unsafe leaving the door open with no locking screen door and there was no window to open. The room was extremely noisy. We were between the entrance door and the elevator so being on the first floor everyone and his brother had to walk by our room all the while talking and laughing very loudly and the room door didn't diminish the noise. There were some people upstairs constantly making loud thumping and crashing noises. There was also some sort of unidentifiable, rhythmic deep humming, vibration sounds, something like a floor sander above as well. It would be on for about 7 seconds off for about a minute and back on again, going on like this for hours. The front desk knew nothing about it. They were remodeling a room off of the lobby, maybe they were also remodeling the room above us as well.
There was a lot of street noise, with loud racing cars and mototcycles.
The neighborhood maybe a little sketchy. We walked behind the property to Albertos drive thru Mexican food place. There were bars across the order counter. The food was good, but we felt unsafe eating there.More
