We have stayed in various places in town over the years but had somehow missed the Hanford House Inn. During a recent wine country trip we decided to give them a try.
The place is run by a couple who had just welcomed their first child home - if they hadn’t told us we’d have never known! Quaint, quiet, well equipped and luxurious was how we found Cottage #4. The attached deck was great for a private outdoor breakfast (which was outstanding and delivered to your door) to start each day and the hot tub was a great way to end them (as another reviewer noted bring your swimsuit!).

The location is a short walk from the center of town with lots of shops, restaurants and wine tastings. Wifi and off street parking, were nice perks too.

Except for an adventure involving the in room coffee maker, we had a perfect stay and will be back when next in the area!

Room Tip: Ask for Cottage 4

Girlfriend wine away 3 days. We loved this place. Cute, clean, comfortable. Easy to walk to town (just around the corner). We liked being visited by the Cats too! Please also visit Thomie's for breakfast or lunch. Easy to visit wineries in Sutter Creek, Plymouth, FairPlay, and tasting rooms in town too.

We stayed here for our one-year anniversary after a recommendation from a friend to try Sutter Creek. The owners (or managers) of Hanford House Inn were friendly and very helpful, and we stayed into Cottage 4 which was absolutely beautiful- with lots of extra conveniences and thought given to details. The spa on the porch was heated and ready when we arrived, and the inn is the perfect distance for an easy stroll to any part of the town. We will definitely be back to this amazing little gem of a town, and definitely stay here again!

I have stayed here several times and have never been disappointed. Besides being in a perfect location, the Inn is charming with modern amenities. Robert and Athena are perfects hosts, going out of their way to make our visit comfortable. They always accommodated us, as our visits often required us changing our dates and extending our stays. I have stayed in their Bungalow and in the Cottages. I grew up in Sutter Creek and would not stay any place else! I am looking forward to seeing the new inn and restaurant when I visit in June.

Our close friends frequent Amador County for the wineries and introduced us to the area. The wineries are awesome and if you're going to stay the night(or weekend)this is the only place you should consider. The location is great(right on the main street through town)within walking distance to shops and restaurants and every cottage is like a small apartment. We stayed in cottage 2 which has a fireplace, super comfy king bed(great linens)whirlpool tub and shower with beautiful glass tiles, heated floors in the bathroom, lovely sitting area and our room rate included a very nice "continental" breakfast of in room fresh ground coffee and a morning delivery to our room of coffee cake bites and quiche from a local bakery(scrumptious!), fresh squeezed OJ, yogurt and freshly laid hard boiled eggs from the chickens in the coop(that you can visit!)onsite! The owners have thought of everything-including a nightlight in the bathroom, umbrellas in case of rain, personalized notes with the lovely bath products and a journal to leave a thought in if you choose. I was sad that we hadn't decided to stay a second night, but we will definitely be back! So nice to come back and relax after a great day of wine tasting

Room Tip: Each room is showcased online and you can choose a room when you book. Our friends love the room with a deck and outdoor hot tub(indoor walk in shower)and we love cottage 2 with the whirlpool bath/shower combo. All have heated bathroom floors and all are recently remodeled. All rooms are outstanding though. They do require a very short flight of stairs to access
