“Great views”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Not the most luxurious nor beautiful property which shows a bit of age in the commons but the place is clean, the rates are fair, all the rooms face the lake and the guests in the tower - except the ones behind the staircase - have unobstructed views of the lake - and the fireworks during the 4th of July holiday. This is my 2nd stay there and we might do it again next year. Walking distance from the property are bars, restaurants, cafes, a Safeway supermarket for all your needs and free parking on site. This is a central location so Tahoe City gets very busy during holidays. Abandon the car and walk to the lakeshore/beach down below across the street. Swimming pool is at street level but hidden from view and above is a sort of sundeck with chairs facing the lake and tables. Some folks do get a little loud on property but a call to the front desk will usually resolve any issues quickly. Free breakfast every morning and every room has a coffee maker, a fridge and a microwave.

Room Tip: Book one year ahead for holiday stays.

My stay at the Pepper Tree Inn was such a pleasant surprise. I was greeted by Marika (the Manager) upon my arrival and given a warm and gracious welcome. She even arranged for me to park my car in the lower garage so my car would be protected.

My room was on the 7th (top) floor of the tower. Though the elevator ride is a little slow, the amazing view from my room was well worth the wait. What a spectacular vantage point to view the lake and surrounding area.

The room itself was simple, clean, and welcoming! My bed was comfortable and the in-room refrigerator, microwave, and coffee machine were quite convenient. The hotel does serve a continental style breakfast that was more than adequate...although some fresh fruit choices would have been nice.

Overall, two-night stay at Pepper Tree Inn was enjoyable, restful, and stress-free. I'll definitely stay there again when in Tahoe City.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 6th and 7th floors have an amazing view of the lake!

This is not a fancy place, but it is clean, and the staff is very hospitable and helpful. Stay here and you are right in the middle of everything good about Tahoe City. The views are great, pool is easy access, and they offer a free Continental breakfast.

We had a room on the 7th floor of the "tower" - great view of the area, and chairs to sit and enjoy the view. Parking is tight, but free and adequate. You can walk to restaurants and the beach easily. Breakfast was good. Would definitely stay again.

Stay on one of the top two floors and you won't believe the views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains. The rooms are all the same size. The top floor (seven) has high ceilings. Rooms are small, but clean and pleasant. Staff is friendly and capable. The value is incredible.

Room Tip: High floor is essential. Six or seven.

Greetings Alan R- Thank you for taking time to write and post your review. Having been built in the 50's & 60's, the rooms ARE small by today's standards. Sorry, there is little we can do to make them bigger. It seems overall, you were pleased with the "value" of your stay. We strive to make our guests comfortable and give them the most for their $$.

Please come again- Lee & Marika Cherry, General Managers

Arrived in a blizzard so had to wait before excellent lake view from top floor.
Girl at front desk was charming. Room comfortable and warm when required.
Only passing through but perfect for my needs.

My only small criticism was the slow wifi. Choice of three connections but all rather poor.

Room Tip: Obviously if you want a good view of the lake then the top floor at the front is best!

Cheers! chrismk- Thank you for writing a review of your stay. It means a lot to us. I am sorry you didn't raise the issue of Wi-Fi reception. It is a problem in some of our Tower rooms, especially if you don't sit near a window. I am told the signal has difficulty passing through "multiple layers of concrete. I am working to find a solution (for a while, now) and hope to find the answer. Glad you enjoyed the majority of your experience, even during a blizzard- which happens here quite a bit. Hope to see you again !

We stayed for one night, and choose the inn by location and view, since I wanted lake view which I got, great! First thing on our arrival we realized they use the highrizer as cellphone tower, when we asked the manger about it her lie was so translucent, I wanted to laugh. She said it's only used for the building WIFI! I've never seen such a mass of cables and boxes on the building outer walls that are only used for WIFI!
Since we mostly stayed for just to sleep over for one night, I did enjoy the bed and the sheets seemed very clean.
The jacuzzi tub was not very inviting, the dark tile and low light made me doubt about the cleanness of the bathroom.
Breakfast was so so, when we booked the place it was one bonuses.
Definitely won't stay there again!
Would I recommend, not sure!

Hello Kulli K- Thank you for taking time to write a review. It means a lot to us as we strive to make every guest experience happy & comfortable. About your "beware concerns" - the tower is used by many of the prominent cell phone companies- to enhance reception in the Lake Tahoe area. We ARE the 2nd highest structure on the North Shore. PLEASE KNOW- they pose NO danger to our guests. They are regularly inspected by Federal & State agencies. I personally accompany them during their inspections. Remember- we ARE in CA- the most "regulated" State in the union. The jetted tubs are "sanitized" by our housekeeping staff between rentals. We are VERY serious about cleanliness, safety, and comfort of our guests. Please put your concerns to rest and come back, next time you are at lake Tahoe.
