Our family of 4 went to Dockside 700 because of all the great reviews on tripadvisor and yelp. What a HUGE disappointment. We ordered an appetizer and received no plates, we were left woofing it down, trying not to make a mess. My husband and my meal came before our salad and the kids cheese pizza ended up being a "Chefs Special". It was cheese, sausage, spinach and who knows what else. The waitress asked if we could be happy with that instead since she made a mistake in ordering. Are you kidding? We then waited 20 more minutes for their cheese pizzas to arrive, at which point they were too full and hypoglycemic to eat. The food was mediocre. The service was questionable and we got compted nothing for their mistakes. Avoid until there is better management.

Owners DR and Marsha have created a jewel in this once forgotten marina front location. The food quality is excellent. Ingredients are nothing but the best. The atmosphere is casual and it works but the sophistication of the food will surprise. You spend your meal(s) looking out to beautiful Lake Tahoe and watching the constant traffic in the marina and on the boardwalk. Dogs are very welcome outside where, after you pick up your food to go and grab a bottle of wine or beer you can enjoy lunch with your pooch beside you. Also, a brand new in-house brewery and sports bar in conjoined but separate area will soon be serving up cold brews on tap from around the world and local favorites. Dockside has found its groove in a space that needed just what the new owners had in bounty.

After looking at the posted prices at a couple of neighboring restaurants, we thought we'd check out the $20 Prime Rib Special at the Dockside 700 Grill. We were in town on a weeknight in the off-season, so there was only one other couple in the restaurant when we entered, 15 minutes before closing.

Our waiter — who was also the proprietor, as it turned out — was friendly and attentive, and made us feel welcome. He invited us to order whatever we wanted from the menu, but we opted for the prime rib special because it was ready to go and we were hungry.

Our salads arrived promptly, and were soon followed with our meals and the half-bottle of Sin Zin we had ordered. The prime rib was a nice cut and well-prepared, the horseradish sauce was fresh and pungent, the haricots vertes were cooked just enough, and the mashed potatoes were delicious.

We very much enjoyed chatting with our host, a transplanted Canadian with a soft spot for Great Danes. And if you like boats, the view of the marina, lake and mountains is hard to beat.

We were looking for a lakeside restaurant for an early evening meal, and struck gold when we walked into Dockside 700. We were greeted with a hospitable welcome and a menu far superior to anything else we'd seen around this area. I picked the 'chef's signature' dish from the seafood section ~ halibut in spanish-style cioppino sauce, served with clams and prawns and polenta ~ and my companion chose the braised pot roast. We both agreed our meals were by far the best we'd tasted on our trip to Lake Tahoe, with a wine list of similar exceptional quality. Watching the lake turn slowly silver as dusk falls, as you can from any of the tables, is an added bonus.
As we had one more evening before the end of our trip, we came back here again and enjoyed another superb meal ~ this time I had the curried vegetables over jasmine rice, and my companion chose two starters. We were welcomed like old friends. If I go back to Lake Tahoe, this would be the first place I'd visit.

We were looking for lunch where we could sit by the water. This was the perfect place. I had the chicken tacos - my daughter had the house salad. Both were very delicious. The waitress was awesome...kept our water glasses full and told us we did a good job because we finished everything ! lol.....The people at the table next to us had a grilled cheese sandwich with fries that looked amazing! Will try that next time.
