“Tahoe Gal provides great views from the lake”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

This was a great way to see some of the sights without having to drive, find parking, walk a lot, etc. The Captain provides some narration and information along the way that is interesting and educational. We had a smooth lake so a smooth ride but the wind was a bit chilly (this was in mid October) so plan accordingly, expect it to be chillier lake side or on the lake. We sat on the open top deck and it has limited number of tables so arrive early if you want the top open deck, there is enclosed seating below with windows. (not the best for picture taking) We had great sandwiches and wraps and although they ran around $14-15 each we used a coupon in one of the tourist papers for buy one get one free which made it one of our cheaper meals on vacation. I think it was $43 per cruise ticket. I agree with other reviews that at 3.5 hours it got a bit long the last 30 minutes, but just relax and enjoy the view. Don't forget your camera, Emerald Bay is particularly beautiful, and the changing color of the water from the boat is unbelievable!

“Happy hour cruise is inexpensive and a really nice ride”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

A year ago we did a lunch cruise and went into Emerald Bay -- a 3 1/2 hour cruise. Enjoyed it a lot. This year we just wanted to get out on the water for a bit and so we did the Happy Hour cruise. A lovely time for 1 1/2 hours and inexpensive. Leaves time to go out to dinner after. There is no need to go to South Shore for a boat ride.

“Seeing the Lake from a Different Perspective”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

There are so many stunning vistas of Lake Tahoe from the surrounding shore and mountains. But viewing the surrounding shore/mountains from a boat on the lake gives you a whole different perspective. We drove the scenic route around the Lake, stopping at Tallac and many of the overlooks to take pictures, including Emerald Bay. But only the way to see Vikingsholm is from a boat on the lake unless you take a strenuous, very steep, non-accessible trail down to the castle hill and back from the parking lot. The Tahoe Gal goes around Fannette Island, again providing a very different perspective from viewing at a distance from an overlook. We took a mid-day cruise and purchased lunch on the boat. The menu items include sandwiches, nachos, pizza, wine, beer, ice cream, etc. The food was decent but expensive. Be warned, it is quite windy and chilly out on the lake and it is a three-hour cruise. So be sure to take a jacket, lip balm, sunblock, etc. I also recommend wearing long pants.

“Great Narration of the Lake”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

I would highly recommend Tahoe Gal Charters out of Tahoe City for a beautiful tour of the west shore on the way down to Emerald Bay. This tour is longer than the others on the lake and cheaper. The narration of the lake was great and the person knew his Tahoe history. The west shore is beautiful with gorgeous rock formations, sandy beaches, clear blue water and fantastic homes. Food and drinks are available at an additional price; we had their nachos and they were great. Next year I want to do the moon light cruise.
