This review is for the snow play/ski area only. We took the 3 and 7 year old boys here for beginner ski lessons and sledding. Ski instructor (Patrick) was great, prompt, friendly, and patient with my son (even after he smashed into the SLOW sign and cried for 5 minutes , he was unharmed). The process was painless, and not very busy, as it was midweek. There's only 1 ski run, so it's really mostly a learning facility, or just for light skiing. There's are 2 sledding runs. 1 for small kids, and the other for all ages, which is perfect, super fun. Save some $, get your beginner lessons here, spend an easy half day in this secluded, beautiful, convenient location. You'll be happy!

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed skiing and sledding with your family here at Granlibakken Tahoe, Brian. Our ski hill is perfect for beginners, with affordable rates and with fewer crowds than the larger ski areas. We always like to hear when one of our staff members goes above and beyond for a customer, and we are glad to hear that Patrick was so patient with your son. Thank you again for taking the time to review your experience, and we hope that you will be back again soon!

Our room was very cute and updated--a newly renovated studio in the main lodge. It was quiet and the beds were very comfortable (including the sofa bed) so we slept well. The studio has a living area with fireplace, dining table, 2 beds, and a full kitchen as well as an outdoor seating area. Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay here again.

The sledding hill is perfect for kids. We had a great ski lesson with Armando.

Room Tip: We stayed in 10A. It was perfect and I'd stay there again.

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay at Granlibakken Tahoe, Leah. Hot buffet breakfast is included in all rates at Granlibakken Tahoe, and is a great way to fuel up for a day on the slopes. Sledding and skiing at Granlibakken is half-priced for lodging guests, which is a great value for folks looking to get on the slopes this winter. We look forward to hosting you again soon!

We stayed in a newly renovated studio in the main lodge. Rooms have high-end finishes with all new appliances and furniture. Great layout for sleeping and relaxing. The studio has a living area with fireplace, dining table, 2 beds, and a full kitchen as well as an outdoor seating area (did not use this trip but would be great in the warmer weather). The sofa bed is awesome! Our room was ready early, so we were able to check in before 12:00 PM, which was nice.

The location is quiet and surrounded by forest (right next to the National Forest) and hiking trails, but close to Tahoe City and the lake.

We rented skis and took a lesson the first day. We arrived late- Saturday morning traffic on Hwy 89-- but were still accommodated for our lesson (which I needed). Armando was great. Very patient, knowledgeable and pushed us enough to make progress. The ski hill is short- so just enough to learn. There are 3 separate "ski hills"- each of three different levels. No waiting in lines, but the runs are not long. GREAT for young children and beginners. Rentals are 24 hours so can get 2 days of skiing with one rental. All reasonably priced.

Breakfast buffet is the best you will find. Great variety, fresh fruit, organic coffee and offered several options for those with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, non-dairy). Staff were attentive and food was always refilled- no waiting. Plates cleared quickly. Lunch at the ski lodge is freshly made. We had a chicken burrito- the salsa is homemade and quite tasty. The Cedar House Pub for dinner is very warm and welcoming, It is not large so definitely needed reservations. Great selection from the regular menu as well as the daily special.. Extensive wine list- all hand selected. Can't go wrong.

Cedar House Pub was not open on Sunday evening-- we had takeout from Spoon Cafe (just down the road)- healthy comfort food- reasonably priced.

We did not get to visit the Adventure Park, but have been there during a prior trip and it is one of the best you will ever find--- courses for all ages (even for young children). The park is well managed- reservations recommended as they only allow a set number of people during each time slot. This ensures that there is very little, if any, waiting for the next obstacle. Safety is top priority!

We didn't have time to visit the heated outdoor pool, spa, or the sauna, but checked them out... they looked warm and inviting- next time!

We are already planning our next visit and looking forward to a warmer weather trip to take advantage of the hiking and the ropes course. Can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: Main lodge means no walking outside to get to breakfast or dinner, but every building is a bit different- choose one that meets your needs.

Thank you for your glowing review of Granlibakken, and we are so glad to hear that you had a great stay! Our location just outside of Tahoe City in a peaceful wooded valley is perfect for a Tahoe getaway, with plenty of trails for exploring around the property, and the lake just one mile away.

The onsite ski and sled hill is great for beginners and families, with a short slope but none of the crowds of the larger resorts. Granlibakken guests also receive half-priced skiing and sledding lift tickets, a great value for our guests. We are glad that you enjoyed your lesson, and will pass your praise on to Armando.

Hot buffet breakfast is included in all rates for lodging guests, and is a great way to fuel up for a day of Tahoe adventure.

Thank you again for taking the time to review your stay, and we look forward to hosting you again soon!

The hotel is great. Rooms are clean and nice and the breakfast in awesome. I've been staying with my family for a few days a couple of times at Granibakken and loved it.

It's conveniently located, really close to Squaw valley. Along with great breakfast in the morning and spa during the night, it makes it really good for a day ski trip. 5 stars.

They also claim to have a mountain ski slope and cross country track, they are really small. Don't count on them. It's boring even with small children.

Service is not the best. The sled/ski area is extremely slow. Lines are long only because their process is very inefficient. Nice place for small children and a great hot breakfast. The weekend requires a two night minimum. We enjoyed Tahoe City restaurants in the immediate area.

Thank you for taking the time to share some feedback regarding your recent stay at Granlibakken Tahoe. We only require two night minimums during holiday weekends and during some peak season weekends. We also are working on making our ski and sled hill processes more efficient, guests can now purchase their sledding and skiing tickets at the front desk, and we are working on implementing an online system for sales. Ski and sled tickets at the onsite ski and sled hill are always half-priced for lodging guests, which offers a great value for families. The hot buffet breakfast is included in all stays, and is a great way to fuel up for a day of Tahoe fun. Our location right outside of Tahoe City is convenient for a family getaway as well. We hope that you will visit again soon!
