We were pretty sure we wouldn't stay here again when the manager's (Doug P.) first words to my husband, during check-in, were "Do you have a dog? There are no dogs allowed! Even in the parking lot!" No, we DON'T have a dog; my brother and his wife followed us into the parking lot in a separate vehicle; they have a dog (who was sticking his head out the minivan window, and the manager glimpsed him) but were NOT staying at the hotel -- simply waiting for us to get checked in so we could all leave for a picnic at Tahoe Regional Park. Anyway, no Hello, no Welcome, not even a pretense of friendly chitchat. He could not have been ruder or less welcoming.

The rooms at this place are cramped, and ours lacked a refrigerator or microwave. Worse, the pool area and the hot tub area were disgusting and riddled with litter when our teenage sons tried to use them. You know it's bad when two adolescent boys with low cleanliness standards are grossed out.

I know Tahoe's an expensive place and you get what you pay for -- but our family had a vastly better experience a few years earlier at the comparably priced Tahoe City Inn. I would not stay here again, despite the ideal location.

The location was great, although the rooms were dated. The room was clean in general but had a musty smell & the carpet, upholstery, etc. did not seem so clean. We have a 1 year old and her hands & legs were pretty dirty after crawling around on the floor in the room. The breakfast was small- juice & some prepackaged pastries. The pool was also really small & a little dingy. The best thing about this motel was it's AWESOME location- right across from the lake & a beautiful playground on the beach. Also it's within walking distance of lots of restaurants, shops, etc. Overall I think the property itself was a little overpriced for what it was, but because of the location it was ok.

This is an old hotel; however, it is clean and the beds are very comfortable. You can walk to Lake Tahoe, across the street and to all stores and restaurants easily in Tahoe City. The front side hotel rooms overlook the parking lot with glimpses through the trees of the lake. The back side rooms overlook a small golf course and the forest. The back rooms have a back door where you can sit and look out over the golf course. The continental breakfast consisted of apples, bananas and single packaged Danish. As well as juice, coffee and tea.

This hotel is very reasonably priced clean lodging with a decent location in Tahoe City. It's more of an old fashioned motel almost like being in a time-warp back to the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. The rooms are clean and reasonably sized. Best rooms are in back overlooking a golf course. Front rooms overlook a hot (in summer) parking lot. The air conditioner in our room was noisy and couldn't keep up with conditions, fortunately it wasn't too hot and there was a ceiling fan over the bed so we were still comfortable. Walls are old school Tahoe wood panelling, decor is disco era. Rooms are pleasant but need an update more than just about any place I've been. Wifi wouldn't connect from the bed but once I moved to door and connected it worked just fine back in the bed and was free. Outside walkways on upper floor are tilted a little but seem otherwise structurally sound. The hotel is located on a busy main road that goes around Lake Tahoe and there's a significant amount of traffic going by. The front rooms can get a little noisy. Best part about the hotel is location, easy to walk to nice restaurants, bars, and some fairly limited shopping. Pretty, relaxing, beach park across the street. Free breakfast is coffee, pre-packaged pastries, and fruit (bananas apples etc,) its free so I guess it say least ok but I wouldn't plan on it as a real breakfast, try the Firesign Inn about 2 miles away or Rosie's, a short walk. It's not an impressive property overall and there's nothing to really hate about it, it's just not exceptional except for maybe the location. I have to say despite several shortcomings the property is a good value for Lake Tahoe, the price is very reasonable especially compared to most places in the area, and it usually has some rooms available if you happen to just decide to spend the night. If I was staying longer I'd look for something a little nicer but for a day or two it's just fine

Room Tip: Rooms in back have a relaxing view of hills and golf course

America's Best Value Inn at Tahoe City is probably the best buy for the buck. At first glance, the exterior looks like a two star motel, but once inside the room you will be surprised. The rooms are about what one would expect in a three or maybe even a four star facility. It is a motel, so there is no restaurant, but numerous restaurants within five minutes walk. I gave this place a four star rating for the quality of the room we stayed in: Quiet, modern, very clean, and comfortable.

Room Tip: Get a room on the Golf Coarse side. Less chance of noise from the parking lot.

This hotel is real bargain. The room was clean and quiet with basic amenities, however there was no fridge or microwave. Breakfast was packaged pastries, coffee, and fruit. Out behind the hotel is a golf course, which means a quiet area. There are plenty of dining establishments and shops within easy walking distance, plus a nice city park across the street right on the lake. We got a good night's rest, and that's what we wanted before heading back on down the line toward Sacramento.

The owner was friendly and helpful, and the rooms are situated far enough off the main street to be quiet.

Nice hotel, it is in a fantastic locations, Tahoe City is a lovely place. Not far from the water, and close to everything.

Now the negatives, the breakfast is indeed very basic, just a coffee and a cake really; and the bathroom's decor could be refreshed a bit as it was looking a bit shabby, but at least it was clean!

To balance the breakfast, you do get a 10% off voucher to use in a couple of the local restaurants which comes in handy, used for breakfast lunch or dinner, depends when you want to use it!

If possible, ask for a room at the back if the hotel overlooking the golf course, nice view and very quiet.

Room Tip: Definitely a room at the back looking towards to golf course. Quiet ands good view.
