We had a lovely stay here in the middle of our west coast tour. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the location was ideal. We had a delicious meal one night in the newly opened restaurant - thoroughly recommend it.The whole new reception area was beautiful. The cabin was comfortable and well equipped and the reception breakfast was a qreat bonus. We would definitely go back!

Wow! Perfect! Thank you so much for the compliment! TripAdvisor comments really do help us recognize all the things we do right and all the stuff we need to work on. We are so happy you enjoyed our brand new restaurant. The chefs are constantly coming up with new and creative dishes to add to the menu. Anytime you are back in the states, please come see us again!

This hotel is an incredible value for the money - we stayed in a Lakeview Studio for a very low rate. It is clean, the room was larger than expected, there are great amenities for a hotel of this caliber, and the staff were all very nice and pleasant. That said, you should be aware of 2 things if you are traveling with a baby, as we were:

1. Smoking is not permitted in rooms, but was permitted directly outside of them. Guests were allowed to smoke on the shared balcony outside of our room - not an issue for everyone, but something we would rather have avoided with a baby.
2. Dogs are allowed in rooms. The grounds are spotless, and our son loved seeing them, but I didn't love hearing one of them barking in the middle of the night on our last night, especially with a sleeping baby.

Granted, these issues may not be exclusive to Cedar Glen Lodge, and we did not complain or discuss these things with management, but they are notable nonetheless. I would definitely return - but I would pony up the extra money for a standalone cabin, which would likely have solved both of these issues.

Thank you so much for your review. So sorry to hear about your issues you had while on your visit! We wished you would have expressed these to us so that we could have made your stay more comfortable. We completely understand your concern with the smoking and we are working on a solution to resolve this. It is our ultimate goal to provide the very best in customer service. We have 5 designated Pet-Friendly rooms on our property and we discourage people from leaving their pets unattended, but this is not always followed. But non the less, we deeply apologize for the disruption. In such cases we do have an after hours phone to reach us. We do live onsite and would not hesitate to help at any time! Yes, having a stand alone cottage is a nice accommodation when you have small children. It provides more privacy. We suggest unit #7,#14, or #15. All of which are stand alone and are quite large. Please come see us again soon, hopefully no barking dogs and smokers will follow!

We stayed six days at the end of July at the Cedar Glen, room 21 of the lodge. (NOT one of the cabins) First let me say this was a last-minute switch of vacation plans for us, or we would have booked a cabin; none were available. A cabin probably would have been a bit larger and more comfortable. But I don't blame the management; they juggled things around just to get us booked into any room with such late notice. The positives first: beautiful property, brand-new gorgeous lobby and bistro (although we never tried it) and good location. You feel like you're out in the woods, but you're actually very close to everything. Good parking right outside your room. Very family-friendly, quiet and peaceful. Nice decks to sit on with lovely lake view, if you're up in the lodge part. There are several things to do right on the property such as ping pong, free fire and smores every night, pool, horseshoes. The owner was VERY helpful and gave us advice on places to eat, things to do in the area, etc. There are many, many properties in the area and many of them look quite run-down; Cedar Glen is quite nice in comparison. We felt that every single request was attended to promptly and courteously. The prices are good for the area. The negatives: There was no TV in the bedroom, and no DVD player. (there was a very large TV in the living room) All the shops closed early in the area, so we would have liked to rent a movie and watch it in our room. The bathroom was very old and dingy, with a pink, fake marble sink and grungy floor tiles, etc. The owner said they are gradually fixing these up, and since the rest of the room was very nice, I couldn't get too upset about the bathroom. We found the sleeper sofa to be quite uncomfortable and lumpy. Continental breakfast was all pastry/carbs. And NO AIR CONDITIONING! I know that people from that area constantly tell you how you don't need it; but people from all over the country come there to stay and we are used to having air conditioning during the day when it gets warm. We actually would have run ours at night, too, since it gets quite cool outside but stayed stuffy in the room, esp the bedroom. (The management did provide us with a fan, which was helpful) The beach access is across a busy street, and the beach is not very pretty there. It is a very short stretch of somewhat dirty beach crammed between two other private beaches. The state park down the road is ten times nicer. All that being said, we felt that the value was good and we would stay there again if we return to the area...esp. if we can get a cabin with an updated bathroom and two bedrooms!

Room Tip: Nice decks and nice view form the lodge rooms, but cabins are probably nicer and a bit bigger if you...

Thank you for your honest review. We enjoy hearing everyone’s candid comments. It is these which help us learn and improve our services. We would like to address some of the negatives as you discussed. The TVs in most of the units have very large, brand new plasma flat screens located in the common area. We do not put any TVs in any of the bedrooms. We are sorry about the inconvenience. Up till now we haven’t had a guest concerned about it missing. Yes, most businesses close early as Tahoe Vista and Kings Beach are not cities, but a community catering to the excitement of the outdoors and beauty of Lake Tahoe. Many people who come to North Lake Tahoe are not looking for places to be open later than 7:00pm. Air-conditioning is something that people rarely need in Lake Tahoe, as the nights and early mornings tend to be in the 50’s. During the day many people leave their accommodations to seek the outdoors where the lake is also in the 50’s or hiking where our evergreen pines provide comfortable shade. Air-Conditioning at these elevations is also very uncomfortable, as we have no humidity in Lake Tahoe and Air –Conditioning makes it worse, making peoples lungs imitate sickness. This is not a desired feeling while on vacation. So that being said, we did not feel the need to put in air conditioning in an area which would be used so very infrequently. We are sorry it was stuffy in your room. Occasionally we experience unseasonably warm weather. Yes, the highway is quite busy this time of year. But there are many crosswalks to use around the property where pedestrians have the right away. We wished you would have asked us about other beaches! We have many secret ones we share with guests that we enjoy and are happy to share with people who ask. These are so close by! We are still trying to catch up with the last of the renovations. This time next year we hope to have that ugly tile and fake granite gone! Believe us, we hate it too! Next time try #14. It is nestled under a large pine so it stays cool all throughout the day, and it is newly renovated. TV in the Master bedroom. Hope for your return!

Old time Tahoe experience with a gourmet restaurant. Lovely grounds, landscaped and well maintained. Our room was tastefully and newly decorated. Access to the beach across the street, so convenient. Great place for families with fun activities for all ages, plus a lodge that pleased us as a couple. The wine bar, views of the lake and wonderfully prepared food in the on-site restaurant contributed to a romantic get-away. The staff were genuinely friendly and the property managers, Allen and Marta, were both welcoming and engaging.

Room Tip: Call and speak with staff about your situation. They will try to place you in a room to fit your pe...

Unassuming - captures the essence of Lake Tahoe. A real Gem. Conveniently located in the middle of north Lake. The restaurant food was delicious - a little pricey but on par with the rest of the area. Staff was informative, considerate, and overall very attentive to the guests. The kitchenette was small but very effective and all that one would need. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Thank You for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. The staff loves to hear that our guests are happy with the service they provide. This is what keeps us with smiles on our faces and thoroughly enjoy our work. Yes, the studios with kitchenettes can be a little small, but great for small stays. Anytime you are visiting the Western side, Please come back and see us!

We didn't know what exactly to expect from this little collection of semi-cabins. But we were pleasantly surprised to find that they were not only clean and neat, but that the proprietors were helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. We easily found plenty to do and see with their help. The same with their advice re local restaurants. The only down side was that the little breakfast spread was a tad awkwardly arranged. The outdoor chairs and tables were convenient and nice to have. Several people took advantage of the outdoor BBQ facilities. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

We have never experienced anything like Cedar Glen Lodge, and its in-house restaurant, in our many years of globe-trotting. It uniquely combines rustic and budget lakeside charm, 1950s tidiness, and gastronomic excellence befitting a four star resort, all neatly packaged up on a parcel of land surrounded by the sprawling and contrastingly bland Tahoe Sands properties. Cedar Glen Lodge consists of two rows of cozy cabins capped by a block of suites, with a pool, horseshoe area, volleyball net, and fire pit nestled on the center lawn. The owners/managers have minutely attended to every detail, from the copper shades on the street lamps to the ultra-soft bedding. The lobby, wine bar, and restaurant have been recently and very tastefully redecorated. And the lodge's small restaurant, Rustic Lounge, offers exceptional quality cuisine at reasonable prices - we greatly enjoyed the seared scallops and truffled mac & cheese. The only downside to such a wonderful in-house restaurant is perhaps an inflated expectation with regard to the complimentary breakfast, which is not prepared in-house and is very basic (but not bad by any means). As an alternative to dining in the restaurant, guests can picnic on the patio or lawn tables in front of each lodging. And every evening, guests, sometimes even joined by the owners/managers, gather around the popular fire pit for s'mores and friendly chat. The warm and inviting nature of Cedar Glen Lodge is highlighted by its owners/managers, Martha and Alan, who sincerely want their guests to have a great experience.
