“Location, excellent friendliness and a comeback place”

Cedar Glen is very cosy, good location at Lake Tahoe, the hospitality of Danny and co. is way above average, feels like being home, a great place with nice pool and spa. Has everything, even a very good continental breakfast. I can only give thumps up to everything here and urge everyone to come. A small thing that could be better is a table and extra chair in the living room of nr 14 and also a bit more cutlery. But thats minor things to make the place even better in the future!!!

We have been vacationing in Tahoe Vista for 20 years and we have stayed at many different places. We loved the Cedar Glen Lodge the minute we arrived. Actually...we really liked everything about it from their web site. It was everything we were looking for at a great price. Danny welcomed us with a big smile and made us feel right at home. He even knew my name when we came in the office to check in. The grounds are very nicely done with a fire pit, bar-b-ques, picnic tables, pool, jacuzzi, ping-pong table, big pine trees and a beautiful view of the lake which is just across the street. Danny made a fire in the fire pit every night which was a nice touch. It was great sitting out by the fire and looking at the stars. Danny was a lot of fun and we thoroughly enjoyed talking with him. Our room was clean and had everything we need. The bed was very comfortable and had extra blankets and pillows. The rooms are decorated with mountain and rustic charm, and also are very cozy. Danny and his Auntie Martha run the place and they do a great job. They are both so friendly and nice. They make you feel like family. After just one visit at Cedar Glenn Lodge it is now our favorite place to stay on the lake! We can't wait to come back!!!

Stay one night, get one free? Who could resist? I called, keeping my fingers crossed that there would be something available. We settled on a freestanding one bedroom cabin. We were a bit apprehensive when we first pulled up. We were concerned that the deal was too good to be true. Any worries instantly melted away when we pulled into the neatly groomed property and first met the owners. They have taken hospitality to a new level and go out of their way to make certain their guests are satisfied! Perfectly timed, scrumptious lemon bars delivered to our cabin were an added bonus! The cabin was extremely clean and, while updated, still maintained a charm from days gone by. It was well appointed and we had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. The location was perfect with the beach just across the road and restaurants nearby in either direction.

We'll definitely be back!

This is a great, old-fashioned motor lodge -- the kind you'll find peppered throughout California to accommodate the hordes of tourists who took to the highways to explore California in the 40s and 50s. The lodge is in a nice, quiet location (Tahoe Vista is a sleepy little place on the north side of the lake between the larger Tahoe City and King's Beach) and the furnishings are basic but clean. As you should guess by the price, this is not a luxury property, so don't come expecting the Four Seasons or the Ritz. Get a room or cabin with a kitchenette, porch, living area, view of the lake, fireplace, or whatever you need to make yourself feel at home and just settle in to the feel of a bygone era. Sit around the fire pit in the evening and chat with other guests. Walk a couple blocks down to Spindleshanks, a restaurant with a pub atmosphere and fantastic food. The property is also just across the road from the beach, so brave the icy waters of Tahoe if you like. Or take a dip in the heated pool at the hotel and then really warm up in the hot tub or sauna. The vivacious owner, Martha, and her nephew, Danny, are wonderful and are eager to help with advice -- or cookies! Great stay.

My friend lives in California and has stayed at Cedar Glen many times in the past on ski trips. I had never been to Tahoe before this trip. The vistas are incredible, and I didn't think anything on the trip could compare. However....from the minute we checked into Cedar Glen, we were treated to a wonderful experience. The owners knew our first names and greeted us with smiles and happy attitudes. They made popcorn for us anytime we wanted and provided fresh fruit, coffee, and beverages all times.
We needed directions to find a hiking trail head so they pulled out a map and offered assistance as well as directing us to a secret hiking spot that was glorious.
They built a campfire that night and brought up homemade warm pecan cookies for the guests and spent time making sure everyone had everything they needed.
The cabins were impecably clean and adorable. There were movies available if you wanted, but we enjoyed the campfire talking with the other guests.
Breakfast was provided and consisted of fruit, juice, coffee, hot chocolate, teas, fresh wonderful bagels and pastries, yogurts and cereal.
This is a great place not to be missed by anyone planning a trip to Tahoe.

We rolled into town without a reservation. It was dark and the camp fire caught our eye as we were passing. We pulled in and a cute little woman ran over to greet us and welcome us. Her nephew was building a camp fire outside in the fire ring, which was surrounded by Adirondack chairs. She showed us several cabin choices and offered us several price packages that would make our stay affordable. There were four of us, on a three day / two night motorcycle tour with no real plans. We selected a 2 bedroom cabin and decided to stay 2 nights and explore the area during the days.

We settled in and went out to enjoy the fire. Marta, our host and her nephew Danny came out to join us at the fire and brought fresh baked Pecan bars to share. Quite unexpected! Marta and Danny have got to be the most personable and genuine hosts of any accommodation where I have ever stayed. They were wonderful to us, and went well out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable. Marta is cute and bubbly, with a constant twinkle in her eye, and a smile on her lips. Danny is also a character, and very handy. Both wanted to please and make our stays memorable.

Having just purchased the property, they have started making improvements and upgrades to the cabins, and were installing new installation in some of the units while we were there. Ours was a little worn in places (as you would expect a Tahoe cabin to be), but very clean and comfortable. The bedding looked new and updated. The wood floors were shiny and polished. Dishes were clean and the kitchen was well appointed. Towels were big and fluffy and there was plenty of hot water. Danny brought us a DVD player and there were films in the lobby to borrow. We were quite cozy and very much enjoyed our stay. For breakfast, there was fresh-baked goods yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. We walked to dinner at a local restaurant and bar and had wonderful food and service.

The Cedar Glen Lodge is aptly named, nestled under the trees and directly across from the lake; some units have a view through the trees of the water. There is grass areas with nice seating to sit and take in the view, a fire pit where Danny makes a nightly fire (Marta brought us lemon bars on our second night!)

I know Marta will be successful in her new venture, and we wish her the best. We highly recommend this stay. You won't be disappointed and will also want to write a review.

Marta and Danny were both funny and warm.

Stopped for 3 nights while touring California and would have happily stayed longer. Martha and Daniel were so friendly and could not do enough to make our stay great. The lodge was homely and comfortable. Breakfast of cereals fruit and delicious muffins and pastries were very welcome. Enjoyed evenings sitting around the fire pit. The pool and whirlpool were very clean and a lovely sun trap.would recommend this place to anyone.
