The location of this property is ideal. There is a huge, sandy beach that is about a 10 minute walk from end to end. The property is about a 40 minute walk to Kings Beach (most of it on the beach, but about 10 minutes from Tahoe Vista Recreation Area to Moon Dunes beach along the road).
The resort offers many outdoor amenities ... big grassy area, sand volleyball court, bocce court, basketball court, outdoor bbq area, tables ... All would be great but there are so many geese droppings the areas are pretty much unusable. They really should do a daily clean-up/sweep of the area! There are two pools. The one on the office side has seen better days. The pool across the street is nicer, but the pool decking area is rocky. They are planning on bringing the hot tub down in ground. There is also a sauna. Both the hot tub and the sauna are on the office side.
There is a laundry facility upstairs. Two washers, one broken. Four dryers, two broken. They plan to update their laundry facilities and move them downstairs.
The units are run down. They really need to upgrade. We stayed in a lower level unit. Shag carpet was filthy. Screen door had tears and no handle. Dishwasher sounded like you were sitting in your car going through a car wash. The bed was pretty comfortable but the sofa bed couch was not. (Although I have never known any sofa beds to be comfortable.) They do offer extra padding in the office for the sofa bed, but that was pretty filthy too. (My son said he was picking off a bunch of hair from it - GROSS!) The kitchen was equipped with all that you might need. Four burner electric stove but no oven. (There is an oven you can use in the office.)
The price for this place is considerably cheaper than some other places we have stayed at, so you need to decide if the location is worth the outdated accommodations. If you decide to stay here, some things that you may want to bring: Folding table for outdoor patio, extra outdoor chairs, blow up mattress (so you don't have to sleep on the sofa bed). For the kitchen, bring aluminum foil, aluminum tins (to bring stuff to and from the BBQ), coffee mugs (unless you like drinking out of tiny tea cups), cooking pans (they have some but they were awful), cutting board (they have one but its tiny), extra dishes or paper plates (they have a set of four, so bring extra if you don't want to do dishes or run the dishwasher after every meal), dish towels (they give you two but we could have used more), disinfectant wipes to wipe down counters, knives (cutting and serrated), saran wrap, tongs and tupper ware.
I really love the location of this place, but the outdated accommodations and all the geese droppings all over the outdoor facilities are a huge turn off.
