“Boring if no train”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2013

Quite a was out of town. Parking on each side of the road, but no parking lot. There are two markers telling the story of the loop. It is interesting but without a train on it, it was boring. Hard to time when a train will come.

“The Magic Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2013

Tehachapi Loop is a wonder of railroad engineering. Is is located in Walong, about ten miles from the town of Tehachapi. It is located in a rural area. There is public area dedicated to the rail fans that usually go there to watch the train running in the loop. The public parking lot is closed since some people used to dump trash there. But you can park the car at side the road and walk to the observation area. The average trains running in the Loop is among 15 to 20 per day. On monday, the line use to be closed for maintenance from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It is recomended to use boots and long pants because there are snakes and other poisonous animals in the fields and rocks in that area. If you decide to stay in the parking lot area, it is not necessary to use this kind of protection. There is not place to buy food or water nearby, so, provide them before drive to the Loop area. It is not permited to approach the tracks nor cross the fences of the private property around the tracks. Respect the non trespassing plates.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013 via mobile

If you have time for a nice calm and relaxing drive, with beautiful sites its a nice treat. We pulled over to look down the side of the mountain. If only we had a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers to sit and really talk and enjoy the sight.

It definitely a wonder of the world. When you're done be sure to head into town and learn more at the Tehachapi Train Depot downtown, Tehachapi Blvd. and Green Street

“Tehachapi Loop”

If you time it right, it is really something to see a long train cross over itself. There are MANY trains that go over this route.....a little patience and you'll see what you've come to see.
