This is a slezzy motel. Me and my boyfriend got a room here for two nights and we walked In the room there were ants EVERYWHERE. The fridge was stolen out of the room. The blankets were dirty and sick. No soap or anything of that matter. You can't get a key cuz you have to give them 5 bucks for a key. So chances are if you leave the room some tweaker will break in and steal your things. Don't sleep in this motel unless you have nowhere to go.

Sleep in your car, under your car, or under the wheel of you car before staying at this dump. Non-smoker rooms are anything but. Cigarette burns on all the furniture. Sheets are dingy grey and pillows should have been replaced 25 years ago. Pretty much the sleeziest motel I've ever stayed in, and all this at $60.00 a night.

Room Tip: any motel but the Santa Fe.

We stayed here with friends on route to death valley,The rooms are fine,Clean and well presented and very reasonably priced. It was nice and quiet when we checked in but within 5 mins the trains started coming through the town with whistles blowing. They lasted all night and one local told us that 67 pass through every day.Great if you are a train buff

Room Tip: Pick a room farthest from the street and Take ear plugs with you.

found this santa fe to be one of the older motels we stayed in...bit expensive but found the rooms clean & tidy...situated on the main street, so having a train fanatic in my husband. he enjoyed trains going through all night....manager looks like he has family help run this motel & all were very helpful with anything we requested

I like trains and on my recent train spotting trip to the line between Bakersfield an Mojave I choose this charming motel to stay near the famous Tehachapi loop. I also love this classic style of motels especially when the rooms are clean, the owner is very friendly and the whole site is in very good shape like the Santa Fe Motel. Beside the occasionally train rumbling by (I counted 7 that night and it warmed my train spotters heart) it is very silent in this downtown location. Everything you need is in walking distance. Try breakfast at Kelcy´s restaurant down the street and get a loop-souvenir at one of the two train stores in town. Trains etc. in the same building as Kelcy´s has good information if you are planning a trip to the loop.
