Great stop for lunch while doing your wine touring. You sure can't beat a great lunch with a fantastic vineyard view. Nice patio dining with misters and fans overlooking the vines. We went for the tapas for lunch. Ahi tacos were so fresh ,avocados, jicama radish relish and some nice jalapenos for just enough flavor. Had 3 on the plate. Then the prosciutto with ricotta flatbread, with apples almonds and endive, cut in 3 wedges, so yummy and very fresh, then the tempura calamari with pickled chiles and carrot ginger aioli. All dishes enough for 2 to share. Nice staff very accommodating, no rush, just stay and enjoy. Then went on to the tasting room and enjoyed the beautiful view from there too, gardens are pretty.

Second visit and everything was delicious & the service was fantastic.

The "yuca dish" was really nice...don't miss out...refer to pic's.

My ONLY challenge with this restaurant is the HEAT! The interior of this restaurant is not comfortable...the dinning area always gets very warm.

Looking forward to the cooler months...

Originally, I was not planning to have dinner as I just wanted to do a bit of wine tasting around the Temecula area. This mind setting changed, when I came across the Meritage at Callaway restaurant and basically for two reasons. The location that the restaurant is positioned as it overlooks the hills offering great sunset views and the detailed and well prepared menu I reviewed at the entrance. The rest was history!! I mainly tried various tapas pairing it with a great Callaway wine and everything was a true winner!! Highly recommended, I am definitely going back!

A restaurant with a well balanced detailed menu, great food offering excellent taste and amazing views.

I hosted a bday lunch here on a Sunday for about 20 ppl and it was not bad but with some room to improvements:

*Food: food is good. I ordered the duck confit and the duck was very tasty! The greens were different and tasted good too with the dressing but it was way too much with not enough duck. I felt like I ate and ate greens and had to save some duck to balance the meal. The chicken dish looked really good and those who ordered said it was good and not too dry with the sauce. I also preordered a cake which was a nice touch to be able to do that just a few days in advance and it was a bit disappointing. It was a four layer white cake white berries and coconut flakes. Cake was way too dense. Good that we were able save some money instead of ordering individual desserts but cake wasnt very good and many didnt even eat it

*Service: planning and working with Stefano, the manager/sommelier was great! He was very nice, patient, and prompt at responding. He was able to customize menus for us which was a special touch. Usually with groups of that size, they give you 2-3 entree choices and he allowed us to have 5.

Unfortunately, the servers were ok. They were nice but not attentive enough. Food took a long time even though they expected us and many times we just waited and waited without seeing any servers available. No help cutting the big cake and a small mix up with the check.

*Although I want to love the ambiance because you get nice views of the winery, it didnt feel as sophisticated as the pictures you see online. Its like an outdoor space partly covered with plastic screens. There were SOO MANY FLIES everywhere. Some friends had to stand up and get away fro their seats because they had flies on their napkins, plates, etc. I really hope they fix that.

Overall, a place with good food at decent prices and lots of flexibility for big groups. However, they need to fix some issues to improve overall experience.

Do not order the prime rib special. Really mediocre. Nice view, nice people....but, really....you can't make mashed potatoes? Pretty basic, they were lumpy an terrible. The prime rib was a joke.

I would rate this lower, but the music was great, however, the artist told me he is moving, so there is no reason to eat here.
