If you're looking for a restaurant with delicious food and true love put into the creation, you've found it at Trattoria Toscana. We visited on our summer vacation and were just blown away learning all the details that aren't immediately known when visiting a restaurant. And thank you Gino and Pietro for answering all my questions!! Chef Pietro not only has shared his family recipes from his home for the public to experience, but his heart is "in the tapestry". Pietro, being a skilled wood worker as well as a chef, created the entire bar, including the tables, cabinets and the frames on the "windows" that look out on painted fields and scenes in Italy (he purchased them there for his restaurant!). And much of the herbs Pietro uses, and many of the vegetables, he grows in his own backyard, lovingly sun drying the tomatoes that he serves in his dishes.
Every dish I tasted was better than the last. I ordered the lasagna because I had read the rave reviews. I loved that it wasn't like any lasagna I've had - more like a thick stew consistency, rather than a cut from a dish. The tiramisu was out of this world. The portions were large - larger than I need, but the left-overs later were devoured (fought over them, actually - ha!).
I've never, at least to my knowledge, been in a restaurant that has so much passion for the experience they are delivering. I have a lot of appreciation for people who are passionate about what they do and do it well. We will definitely be back!
