“Beautiful place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

We loved it here. The Villa was beautiful. The restaurant had wonderful food and service. We went to the pool, beautiful. Used the jacuzzi. Wine tasting there was our favorite. We had trouble with making reservations online. Tried to book hotel/ hot air ballon package with an extra night, but the website would not let us add the extra night. I ended up booking the package twice trying to get it right. Called the hotel, the man helping me cancelled the extra tour/ night and added the second night, and sent me the email. When we arrived for our stay he had cancelled the whole thing. Luckily Julie was able to book us for two nights, it was a Sunday so they were not full. We had to call the hot air balloon ourselves.

Room Tip: We loved having a Villa

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at South Coast and the stay from beginning to end was amazing. The welcoming staff, the servers and the restaurant was great and let us not forget David our wine tasting host and the great wine! We will definitely recommend to all our friends and family. Thank you! We had the best time.

Room Tip: Room 310 has a beautiful view of the vineyards and mountains.

After searching for a beautiful, relaxed, and vineyard atmosphere for the villa accommodations for my daughter’s wedding, I chose South Coast Winery Resort and Spa as the ideal place for our 100 plus guests. The staff who work in group sales were professional, knowledgeable, and personal. They were eager to help us in every way to make this destination wedding memorable and beautiful. We booked the free-standing villas (four which do not share any common walls nestled amongst the grapevines. room is large (around 500 sq. ft or larger), gorgeously appointed with lovely fabrics, vineyard wall stencils, fireplaces, bar wet sink, refrigerator, walk-in closets, and bathroom suites boasting huge showers, Jacuzzi tubs, separate toilets, and quality amenities. The beds are super comfy with dark out shades that invite sleeping. The complimentary internet came in especially handy when I needed to send updates to party guests. Each room is individually decorated. Some of the villas have glass-topped dining tables with chairs, others have sofas and coffee tables. All enjoy tall double French doors leading to a private patio with a small marble topped round table and two chairs surrounded by vineyard views, trees, and flowers. A few guests stayed in the newly built hotel with balconies overlooking the valley and thought the rooms were beautiful as well. On the weekend mornings, colorful hot air balloons filled the sky outside our door. A bottle of South Coast red or white wine and two bottles of water are complimentary. With your villa passport, guests may indulge in discounted wine tastings and spa services, both highly recommended. The Grapeseed Spa offers first class treatments. After a sauna and steam, the bride and I were pampered with a hot stone massage which includes a glass of wine and fresh fruit post treatment. The heated salt-water swimming pool is a delight. When it rained one day, our group huddled in the large whirlpool and the Tuscan cabanas poolside. Order lunch at the poolside grill. You won’t be disappointed with the quality and quantity. You can ask for adjoining villas if you are traveling with another family and want a united front. Or, if you have several friends or family with you, you can request a booking for the entire quad of four villas, which we did. We stayed five days and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect including the Vineyard Rose Restaurant. Although we didn’t have the ceremony on the premises, we did book the Gold Barrel Room for the Rehearsal Dinner. It was the ideal banquet room. Temecula is an up and coming wine destination and South Coast is not to be missed. Roses, gardenias, palms, wisteria, geraniums, lantana, and numerous other flowers dot the landscape. As a gardener and designer, I truly appreciated South Coast’s attention to the tiny details. Everyone working at the resort was friendly and helpful truly making our stay and that of our guests a first class experience. Thank you South Coast. We can’t wait to return.

Room Tip: Loved the adjoining Villa Suites when traveling with two couples or booking all four villas in a qua...

During our visit we did the chef's table dinner, wine tour, played/drank at the spa pool, ate at the restaurant & took up 4 villa's with 8 people.

Chef's table dinner - excellent
Spa Pool Service - excellent
Restaurant Food - average (lunch bad, dinner good)
Room Service (breakfast) - excellent
Wine Tour - excellent/entertaining
Villa's - spacious and comfortable/excellent

The only thing that it lacked was quality of food at lunch. Of the 8 people, only 2 liked their lunch. Breakfast was very good. Dinner, was great, both the chef's dinner and the regular restaurant dinner.

One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel bar is beer/wine only. If you want a full service bar you have to go next door to another hotel. I was fine with that, but a couple of people in my party were disappointed.

Perfect for a getaway of fun with friends, or romantic weekend. We will def be back.

Oh, and their wine is FANTASTIC

Room Tip: Reserve a Villa, they are better than the hotel rooms.

South Coast Winery and Resort offers an outstanding location to enjoy the Temecula Wine Valley. We have been going to South Coast since it was nothing more than a metal shed. Now it offers vineyard rooms and suites in addition to hotel rooms. The restaurant is excellent. There is a large tasting room, We have been members of the wine club for several years. The barrel harvest in November brings us down every year. Take an opportunity for a massage at the spa to really make you stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: I prefer the villas facing south onto the vineyards and hills. Depending on the type of experience...

This past September, my wife and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary at South Coast. During the summer months they often run specials which are in effect into September. We were able to book one of their private bungalows for three nights at a very special rate. The bungalows are arranged in groupings of four and are quite private. They are spacious, very quiet, and have private patios. The winery's vines are planted right up to the patios. The food in the restaurant was excellent and can best be described as a fusion of various styles, the whole of which is quite good. The only thing that was a little off-putting was that there were charges for a number of activities that at other wineries/hotels were included; most notably a tour of the winery and tasting (which by the way, was very informative and fun). They were very up-front about the "extras" so there were no ugly surprises. And these were certainly not "deal breakers." Make no mistake, we would definitely stay there again! It's not inexpensive but you certainly pretty much get your money's worth. Highly recommended for honeymoons, second honeymoons and anniversaries.

Room Tip: If you decide on a bungalow, be sure to specify one in a grouping away from the main road. While th...

Reservations for 3 in the Winemakers Suite supposedly one of the nicer rooms and more costly of the rooms. It was a special celebration. We picked it via pictures and written descriptions. The room was no where near the size presented and the nice patio had a view that included the parking lot. Very disappointing was the "fireplace" which was one of the main reasons we chose that room. It was in a TV table and was a "picture" of flames behind 2 fake logs. Not real, not gas but a "Picture'! We had reservations for 3 and the suite with 2 bedrooms. It was set up for 2 people only. There were 3 televisions and one working remote. One remote was missing and one didn't work at all. We also had no heat. They sent up a maintenance man who couldn't fix it and then his supervisor joined him and although they worked a very long time were unable to fix it. The reservation, desk and other employees were very nice and tried to be helpful. When calling them we did get an immediate response but that didn't help when problems couldn't be resolved. I was also surprised with all our troubles that the room bill was much higher than advertized and it was midweek and very few guests. Not a good experience.

Hi Jacki D,

We would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us during your special celebration and for taking the time to write your review of South Coast Winery Resort & Spa on TripAdvisor. We are pleased to know you felt our resort staff was courteous and proficient in assisting you with your needs; however; we are disappointed to learn you felt our Winemaker’s Suite was unsatisfactory and minor details of the room set up did not meet your expectations. We assure you the suite is true to the 850 sq. ft. description listed on our website due to the high ceilings and the second private bedroom. As for the fireplaces, they were added as an ambiance enhancement feature and contributed to being an extra safety precaution to ensure our guest’s remain safe at all times. We do continually strive to provide the ultimate guest experience, but understand there are always areas of necessary improvement; such as, the suite set up for two guests instead of three and the in room heating. Your feedback is truly valuable and has provided us a new opportunity to further improve ourselves. We thank you again and given the opportunity, it would be a privilege to host your return visit to Temecula Valley Wine Country.

Sincerely,

South Coast Winery Resort & Spa Team
