In general, Temecula has gotten much better as a wine region in just the past few years. Or so it seems -- we may also just be more discriminating in finding the good ones. I think both trends are true. This past weekend we visited three wineries: Palumbo, Doffo, and Chapin. All are small wineries, and all were pretty good. Palumbo was the best -- really nice wines. The other two were good, but the wines were not dry enough for my taste at Doffo and Chapin. The service at all three was very friendly and enjoyable. If you think Temecula isn't worth visiting, think again. You'll have a great time, and if you do a little research ahead of time, you'll have some really good wine. If you're new to Temecula wineries, here's a hint: the climate favors reds. I had a very good white at Palumbo, but that's a rarity in Temecula.
