Owner description: AronHill Vineyards resides atop a steep limestone overlook just west of Paso Robles. Here, Judy Aron cultivates eight acres of dry-farmed Primitivo and Cabernet Sauvignon, producing small-lot wines of natural purity and structure. The AronHill Bistro is the Paso Robles wine country’s dining discovery, where you will enjoy fresh dishes made from seasonal and local ingredients, all paired with stunning hilltop views. The philosophy of the AronHill Bistro mirrors our approach to winemaking: deliver full, authentic flavors by relying on the best ingredients, and by not overcomplicating what nature has provided.

We stopped here to grab some lunch in between wine tastings. The paninis were good and came out quickly. The wine was tasty. The workers were a little snappy, but not bad overall.

We didn't do wine tasting here, because we were famished and needed to get some food in our systems. So we sat out on the covered patio and ordered some really delicious Panini sandwiches and glasses of the AronHill Chardonnays. I had the "Mare" panini which was a really good smoked turkey with Gouda cheese and pesto sauce on perfectly toasted panini bread. It was served with a spring mix salad which was lightly dressed and wonderful. I put some of the salad on the sandwich and voila, double goodness in every bite. There are not many eating places on 46, other than Farm Stand 46 which is the place most people stop, but they were closed until May. After eating at AronHIll, who cares that they were closed. Bon appetit in between tasting.

We had a portobello sandwich and a chicken and pesto sandwich both with a side of greens on the deck overlooking the vineyards. The 2009 Cabernet was our splurge wine this day it was light and flavorful, somehow perfect for a light lunch, strange for a Cab I know but it really worked.

Aron Hill had the best red wine I have ever had.

I do not generally like red wines, but have tried them whenever friends order red wine, or at wine tastings (such as in Napa).
These wines were great and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed them. Even the ones that were not to my personal liking, I must admit, were objectively very good wines.

The view from the patio was great as well.

Lunch was around $11-$15 for a panini with a side salad and quite tasty!
Tastings were $10 for 5.
The wines were slightly on the pricier side, starting at around $45 a bottle.

We made a stop here on our wine tasting day, and it was a wonderful find! We did a tasting followed by lunch ... the food was terrific. The panini's and salads we had were all delicious. The wines we tasted were even better! All 6 of us walked out with at least 2 bottles a piece. Judy, the owner, personally led our tasting, and her passion for her wines and what she does was apparent. The entire staff was very attentive. Great find!
