As well travelled British ex-pats who love Indian cooking, we've spent over 5 years looking for good quality Indian food in this area. The Bombay is perhaps in the least likely location, as part of a Days Inn motel, but is in our opinion the very best Indian restaurant in the Torrance area.

We've eaten both a la carte and from the buffet menu, and have always been very happy with the quality of food, service and surroundings. The food is well prepared and appropriately spiced - by that I don't mean hot, but the proper flavours that belong to certain dishes. The texture is right, and not too watery for vegetarian dishes. Meat dishes contain lean cuts, and generous portions. Service is just right, in my view - appropriately attentive, giving an impression that if there's any problem it will be treated seriously, as opposed to the usual throwaway "everything okay?". There is always a manager walking the floor, and we invariable get courteous, helpful and welcoming service.

If you go for the weekend buffet ($12.99 as at October 2012) I think you won't be disappointed. For this price you get a beverage of choice (iced tea is good here, as is mango lassi), nan bread freshly prepared and delivered to your table, and a good range of starters, entrees and 4 desserts (with no Jello and plenty of cardamom!)

We've tried the takeout service once, and found the food very well packed and presented. We live outside the delivery area so can't comment on that service.

For a date night the ambiance is good. Unobtrusive, with privacy and quite a bit of intimate style for the price.

If you find this review helpful, I'd be so grateful if you'd mark it so. It's really good to get feedback.

Took " take out" to hotel next door (avoid Days Inn -- Torrance) - what a surprisingly good meal - one of the best Indian we've had in a long time. Prepared Halal, very fresh, nicely spiced (we went "mild" as advised, otherwise they tend to be on the hot side).

Went to Bombay Tandoori because had a $10 coupon off coupon in the Entertainment Book. Tastefully elegant inside with attentive (a little too attentive but that could be due to the fact that around 5:30 Monday night we were the only customers but would rather have that, than be ignored) service. When we first came I saw that they had a lunch buffet and wanted to come back during the day but my date wanted to stay which was good because we ordered the bargain dinners which like a buffet had a great variety of dishes (it was good because the coupon was not good for the buffet-I DO have a pet peeve about conditions that restaurants put on coupons but won't go into it here) , although it was not cheap it was a good value for the amount and quality of the food and the dishes were patiently explained to us. They also let us drink the wine we bought and did not charge us a corkage fee,

Manager seemed very grateful that I would put a positive review on yelp, (which I didn't do because I didn't remember my user name and password and because it unlike here had plenty of other reviews) because of the lack of customers in there I thought that people were not aware of this restaurant.. It could be because it was a Monday evening, about 5:30 when we came, cold outside, or maybe Xmas shopping, (so was surprised that he wanted the review because there were a plethora of reviews of yelp yet despite not ONE negative review and most gave it the top rating) and also surprised that for awhile we were the only party there for about an hour (although it had one takeout order) especially since it was connected to the Days Inn motel where you would think many of the customers would come from. The location is strange, the entrance to the parking lot, is between the motel and restaurant NOT on the right side of the restaurant where many people turn in wrongly. Also there is a sign near the swimming pool that says it is the entrance to the restaurant (maybe back door?) but since we saw one near the sidewalk we went there, but when you walk to the restaurant from the parking lot, you will pass a door that remains closed (if we had not called first, we could have been fooled that the restaurant was closed) and must go pass that to the front door.

I was glad that I did not see the yelp reviews, because despite agreeing with overall tone of the reviews I would've been disappointed because we didnt' get the free dessert that others seemed to have gotten, however, it could be due to the fact that we had a $10 off coupon (they did ask if we wanted dessert and not knowing that it may be complimentary-maybe that was just when it first opened?-we said no.) If you live in the area besides the Entertainment Book, they offer coupons in the local coupon books-they also own the Indian Tandoori restaurants in the area (they named it the Bombay Tandoori to differentiate it ) so they may take THOSE coupons also, so with the coupons, food, ambiance and good reviews, you have no reason not to try it at least once!!

I had my parents visiting From india and ofcourse wanted some good indian food. I had seen the sign for grand opening for indian restaurant on pch so I said let's go check this new restaurant. So we went in about 7pm on wednesday for dinner. We walked into the restaurant and had about 5 or 6 tables filled by other customers. The restaurant is like no other restaurant in the area. Very nicely decorated and very clean. We ordered paneer pakora and fish pakora for appetizer both excellent. For dinner we had saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, daal tudka, vegetable biryani and garlic naan. Food was the best we had after a long time. My parents really liked it a lot. We are now planning a party at this restaurant for my daughters birthday. Oh forgot to say the banquet they have is really nice.
