The "south bay" of Los Angeles includes the city of Torrance, CA. Nestled about 10 miles south of LAX, it is a nice place from which to base your LA sightseeing. And the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Torrance is a good place to hang out. With free parking and convenient freeway access, the hotel is worthy of a visit. There are many restaurants within walking distance, and you're directly across the street from one of the largest shopping malls (Del Amo Mall) in this US.
My check in was fast and efficient. The room, a suite, was not in the main building but in the three story facility near the pool. Unfortunately, the suite was dark (only one window overlooking the outer walkway) and one window near the ceiling in the bedroom. Since the room was next to the entry way and the elevator, it was also very noisy. So avoid this kind of room. (I wrote to the hotel's manager regarding this room on September 3rd, but have yet to hear from her.)
A bight point was the room service dinner. I ordered chicken Marsala and a house salad. It was one of the best hotel dinners I've had in a long time. Excellent preparation, taste, and service.
I would return to this hotel. I am marking it very good with the exception of the room.More
