“Wonderful stay and meals”
Reviewed 14 September 2012

We spent our first two nights of our holiday at the Horse Guards. Feeling very jet lagged, having come from Australia, Arthur made us very welcome. Loved the rooms and possibly the best shower I've ever had! Lovely soft towels and brilliant bed. Very tastefully decorated. The first night I had an excellent chicken and leek pie, and the next night was steak night with a good red wine at bargain prices. Steak was great and cooked rare as requested. A great base to explore the Cotswolds. I totally recommend it as a place to both stay and eat. An added bonus was the wonderful weather. Loved walking around in the sunshine.

We are gradually getting used to the fact that our guest rooms mean that our customer base is going global. It's a great feeling and this very positive review only reinforces our commitment to ensuring wherever our guests come from, they are entitled to the best of Cotswolds hospitality. We appreciate this kind review and only hope the rest of their trip is as enjoyable. Thank you.

We stayed at The Horse Guards after a friends wedding in malmesbury. We lost water and electricity in our home the morning we were due to travel down and Arthur and janette went out of their way to ready the room early for us so we could shower and get ready for the wedding. The room was recently refurbished to a high standard and was very comfortable and spacious. The much needed fry up the next morning was also excellent.

When our guests are as kind and accommodating as these, then the pleasure is our's. In this instance our guests were very much from the local area rather than from further afield. No matter! It was our peasure to be of service (No cliche intended) and we do appreciate this generous review. Thank you very much.

Four of us stayed one night in these fantastic rooms and would definately return again.
The inn food was outstanding and very reasonably priced, the desserts are to die for all freshly made. The owners and staff were so helpful in all aspects of our stay, from where to go for a day out, to why there is a well in the restaurant.

Good beer £3.20 a pint . Straightforward, fresh, well cooked and presented food. The menu on their website says it all. What you see is what you get and it's all as it should be.
Great room for the night, very quiet and dark. The bedrooms are accessed from a separate entrance so no 'running the gauntlet' with your luggage through a crowded pub.(Choose 'Royal room' if you are tall) Breakfast delicious. No Musak. Landlord and his wife welcoming, friendly and interesting.

A very welcome and much appreciated review from a guest for whom it was a pleasure to be of service. We took the liberty of looking at some of this guest's other reviews and were all the more pleased to learn that he is a "veteran" on guest accommodation. One of the great benefits of this profession is meeting people such as this guest and we certainly hope our paths will cross again in the future. Thank you.

The accommodation is beautifully designed and of a very high standard. We ate in the restaurant and the food was well presented and tasty. We only stayed one night but I wish we had been able to stay longer - maybe another time! I will certainly stay there again if I am anywhere nearby. Arthur and Janette made us very welcome and I can't recommend The Horse Guards highly enough.

The pleasure in receiving reviews such as this never diminishes and of course is testament to the effort the whole team puts in to try and make our guests' stays as pleasant as possible. If we succeeded in this case it was in no small way due to the enjoyment derived from serving guests such as these. Thank you for the kind words and we hope you venture out this way again in the not too distant future.

We stayed at The Horse Guards on the way to Womad. Arthur and Janette were very welcoming and a lovely evening meal was provided in the garden - a relaxing end to the day after a long drive!

The room we stayed in was very well appointed and newly re-furbished with high quality bathroom and bedroom. The rooms are in an annex with a private entrance.

Breakfast was delicious. All in all an excellent stay and we would not heistate to book again at The Horseguards. Well done Janette and Arthur!

Our guests had travelled from Newcastle and clearly enjoyed one of the rare evenings this summer when they could dine al fresco. To add to that, they also enjoyed their overnight stay with us. We are pleased that their break was such a pleasant experience and grateful for their kind review. Thank you very much.
