Stunning views of the Trinity Alps wilderness area everywhere you look. Pick from one of 20+ lakes that you want to day-hike to...and the staff will pack you a lunch before you go. Rather sit by the pool than hike all day? They've got one of those, too...it's surrounded by a lush meadow and an 8000' snow-capped mountain.
The staff serves up 3 great meals each day, and there is a beer/wine bar with plenty of snack options in the lodge. A really great perk is that there are TWO dinners served every night: the kids eat first, then the recreation staff takes them outside for fun and games while their parents sit down for a relaxing dinner with adult conversation!!!
The cabins are basic, but comfortable. Each one has its own bathroom with a shower, a heater, a nice covered sitting porch and everyone gets a bed with warm blankets. The kids get to sleep in bunk beds, which completes the "camp" experience for them.
I must disclose that I'm a little biased since I have been coming here every summer for 35 YEARS with my family. But then, a lot of families have been coming here for similar stretches, and there is a reason why.
