Owner description: For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back style, Northstar California Resort combines California cool with high-end luxury, on-mountain exhilaration with a sophisticated alpine village atmosphere. Halfway between one of North America's coolest mountain towns and one of the world's most beautiful alpine lakes, Northstar is a destination on the rise, having poured nearly a billion dollars into creating Lake Tahoe's premier luxury snowsports experience. Upscale shops, refined dining and Lake Tahoe's only five-star slopeside lodging is married to impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and enough variety to challenge every level of skier (and world-class terrain parks to keep the kids busy). Those who come to Northstar know what they're looking for. Sometimes it's adventure, sometimes it's to learn, sometimes it's to relax in a welcoming place with family and friends. No matter what that experience is, they'll find it to be exactly the way it should be.

“Beerfest & Bluegrass 2014”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

We happened to be in town saw this event listed at our hotel (not at Northstar). Glad we went! A great selection of beer vendors and good musicians. Lots of people. Parking was a little tight. The resort was big, but we didn't partake in anything outside of this annual event.

Ski in and out. Great village. Friendly people. Nice European ski experience in north America. It is our default destination in the winter.

Cute shops, love going to Mikuni's for sushi while visiting there. Fun activities and local events during the summer to attend.

“Beautiful Mountain”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

My son and I took a day trip to Northstar-at-Tahoe using the Bay Area Ski Bus on3/17/14. We had a great day on the mountain even though the weather was a little warm for March. The trails were well-marked and groomed, the terrain parks were awesome, the scenery was beautiful, and the food at the lodge was very good. All the employees were helpful and friendly. We definitely would like to go back.

“Nice mountain.”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

A nice ski mountain. Helpful, courteous staff. A heck of a long walk in your boots from parking or shuttle drop off to the gondola! The long walk I imagine, was designed to make you pass through the cute little village with some of the most expensive food you'll find. On mountian food: I can't say too muach, as it was late in the season and the on mountain eatery was offering only soup or chili! Come ski it for a day, then stay away!
