Very friendly and welcoming front-desk staff. We were able to check in early and could buy lift tickets. Rooms are huge and were comfortable and clean. Spa was lovely after a day's skiing. Breakfast was good - plenty of tables to sit at, so not the usual bun-fight you get at some of these places. Only down-side is location. There's a pub/restaurant over the road (average), but otherwise you have to drive 5 mins to the old town for a decent meal.

Been staying at the HIE for years. Let me get the only negative out of the way: it's expensive for what you get! I used to use it for one night stands (I'm talking about skiing), but now, due to the price I only use it when I split the cost with a friend and plan on skiing for more than one day. Now for the positive: it's completely non-smoking, never experienced room noise from neighbors, free breakfast is simple, but more than enough, facilities are clean, front desk staff is friendly and helpful, beds are comfortable, hot tub/spa (whatever you want to call it) is a great after-ski treat for sore muscles, and the location is great for a winter skiing accomodation. If you need a place to stay for northshore skiing, check it out, but don't tell your friends.

Didn't have our correct reservationThen gave us a room with two queens with fireplace. One bed had a broken box spring.on one side. they said they'd fix it . they stuck a piece of wood in it. The magnify mirror was broken off. Fireplace didn't work they tried to fix it when we decided to take the room. They came and tried to get it fixed. Still didn't work.
Ask the next morning to have it fixed, Never got fixed. Public restroom was overflowing. Continental breaksfast had hardly any foods. We've stayed a this holiday inn express since it opened. Everytime we stay there the service and the accomodations get worse and worse. And you are expensive.

Stayed 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Express on business. First thing readers should know is that this hotel is nonsmoking throughout. A definite plus in my book. Friendly, helpful staff, good beds, above average continental breakfast. I agree with previous reviewer who thought it pricey for a HIE ($135 a night on weekends). But they are charging what the market will bear for easy access to Tahoe without the ridiculous traffic you'll find around the Lake. Close to many ski areas for the winter visitor. Restaurants are pricey, especially since in many you are getting microwaved prepackaged dishes. We found a good hole in the wall Mexican restaurant off the main street called Casa Baeza.

We had a very nice stay in a king suite in JUN 2004. Plenty of room for a family of four (2 teens) with 2 queen beds and a sofa. Convenient location off I-80 and only 20 minutes to Lake Tahoe spots. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, nice staff, clean facilities and grounds. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Recommend the Pizza Galleria one exit east on I-80. Overall, a very clean and modern hotel with a rustic outside exterior. Perfect for our family, I would stay there again.

I don't normally stay at Holiday Inns but after being stuck for 10 hours in a snowstorm on I-80, it was a haven (and the first decent lodging on the way to Truckee). New rooms, very clean and comfortable, in-room fridge and coffee etc. But for a Holiday Inn **Express**, it's pricey! Location I guess...
