The good parts: The hotel has a nice appearance, it isn't too far from the highway; there is no highway noise. It is quiet. There is plenty of guest parking (watch out for the private lot with the Selzer realty signs; you might get towed). Our room was large; the king bed was a large king and very comfortable. We both slept well. The vanity is outside the bathroom which is smallish and has a toilet and shower/tub. Not good or bad, just how it is. The air conditioner was effective and not too noisy. There was a stuffed chair for reading and a simple desk. Plenty of lights, although one of the lamps had a burned out bulb. A flat-screen TV which we did not use. There were drawers for clothing and a standard hotel clothes bar for hanging up coats and such. Although we did not eat it (went to brunch with friends on Sunday), the breakfast looked good and it was popular. The negatives: No elevator and we were on the 2nd floor, which is a problem for my wife. The room seemed dark unless the curtain was open and all the lights turned on. The room also had a strange odor. Not of cigarette smoke, but like someone had cleaned the carpet with an off-brand of cleaner in an attempt to cover the smoke odor. It worked, but the resultant odor was noticeable and, to me, unpleasant (it did not drive us from the room). The mini-fridge in our room did not have a freezer compartment, which meant we needed ice to put in our travel cooler (one bucket, but we NEEDED it) as we could not "recharge" out freezer packs. It was when searching for ice I discovered there was only one ice machine per floor (2 floors; about 30 rooms per floor), and the one on our floor was not working and appeared to have been out of service for more than a day or two. Our toilet leaked. It was from a hole left by the loose flushing lever. Water had leaked onto the floor and was puddled below the tank. That should have been caught by the cleaning staff and taken care of. Also, when we first flushed the toilet, the water filling the tank caused a loud squealing sound. My wife also discovered the water going into the tank was HOT water. When my wife showered she noted the water temp. in the shower dropped off near the end of her shower. Possibly due to increased demand by other guests. When I went to check out, nobody was at the front desk. Housekeeping staff tried to find someone for me but they were unable to, and there was no bell or phone/intercom arrangement to summon them. After a couple of minutes, a nice young lady appeared to prepare my bill.....she had been helping with some problem at the breakfast service because there was nobody else assigned to handle the breakfast or any problems which arose (at least I didn't see anyone). Breakfast was popular which was a problem because the breakfast area couldn't seat them all. Folks were standing with full plates, hoping for a seat at a table. I think a lot of them ate in their rooms.
